The Woodlands Tx - Live Music to Highlight Performing Arts at The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival

Enjoy live Texas music while you shop for art at The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, set for Saturday, April 12 from 10 am – 7 pm and Sunday, April 13 from 10 am – 5 pm along The Woodlands Waterway® and in Town Green Park. Ranked #1 in Texas by Art Fair SourceBook, this juried art show features the original works of over 200 artists in a wide variety of mediums.

“Now in its ninth year, The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival is a showcase of visual and performing arts,” said Jenny Wright, Festival Director. “In addition to a colorful gallery of fine art displayed along The Woodlands Waterway®, guests can enjoy live music highlighting the most popular Texas genres – Western swing, blues and folk rock. An exciting variety of singers, songwriters and musicians will perform both days of the festival.”

According to Peg Welbes, Performing Arts Director for the festival, “This year’s line-up was built around the rich history of Texas Music; an evolution of European and African influences, including traditional English, Irish and Scottish music, with some salsa from south of the border, and a good dose of African-American blues.”

The headliner for Saturday, April 12 will be Guy Forsyth, a talented musician, singer, songwriter and ‘hard-working student of the blues, blues-rock and other indigenous folk music,’ according to Welbes.

On Sunday, April 13, the headliner will be the “jazz-grass” bandMilkDrive, featuring award-winning instrumentalists Brian Beken on fiddle and lead vocals, Noah Jeffries on guitar and harmony vocals, Dennis Ludiker on mandolin and harmony vocals, and Matt Mefford on double bass.

Major sponsors of the festival include The Woodlands Development Company, The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau, The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center and Stella Artois. To find out more about sponsorships, e-mail Jenny Wright at jenny@woodlandsartsfestival.com
