Author, poet, editor and founder of the annual Louder Than A Bomb: The Chicago Youth Poetry Festival, Kevin Coval is an all-around champion for Chicago. We asked him to pull together a playlist of his favorite Chicago music — and it’s a true love letter to the city, featuring both veterans like Common and Kanye and up-and-comers like BJ the Chicago Kid, Jamila Woods and Joey Purp.

Former 1890s men's club with chic rooms & suites, rooftop dining & a 1920s-style speakeasy.- Google
"Great atmosphere, drinks, food, but the service was lacking."

The decorum, staff, amenities, and atmosphere are all woinderfully regal and nice. It's such a cozy and quiet place to be, the building looks lovely from the inside as well.

The location is solid, near a good number of museums and other attractions. The accommodations though are alright. The rooms are not quite as comfortable as equivalently priced hotel but they have nice amenities and whatnot. The really nice part about the hotel is everything outside of it. The dining room is lovely with great historic furnishings and nice armchairs. The game room is surprisingly fun. The rooftop bar and restaurant, Cindy's, is lovely. A bit overpriced, but good for families for meals and twenty-thirty-somethings for drinks. Overall, probably wouldn't start again, but was definitely happy that I went for the experience.

It's a bit loud and crowded, but not overpriced. Good beer, drinks, and good selection in the game room.

Mixed feelings about what they did to the place. Great that they didnt gut it, glad people can enjoy the history of the place. But the paveing over of the incredible pool for some lame event space and a shake shack is pretty much unforgivable in my book.

Great ambiance. Drinks are strong and well made. Variety of bars in the hotel. Historic building. Lovely architecture. Good service. A little pricey, but worth it.

Terrific reuse of a historic building. Step inside and enjoy several gathering areas for reading, stunning or sports. Of course, the rooftop bar ranks among the best in the city.

Went for a Halloween party. Decent drinks, but not much going on because of the Cubs games. Architechture and history of the place are very cool. Bit expensive as a result.
