Mouth watering BBQ. Meat was cooked perfect with some if the best sauce I've ever tasted! Highly recommended.

This place is amazing! Best brisket I've ever had. Moist, juicy & flavorful. The BBQ sauces were delicious, the creamed corn was out of this world, the ribs were fantastic, the sausage was tasty, potato salad was great, staff was friendly, even the "plates" were unique. I would recommend this place to everyone. Highlight of San Antonio food wise for me!!

AMAZING! FANTASTIC! DELICIOUS! This is the real deal. The best BBQ in Texas. The brisket was unbelievable and as close to a religious experience as I've ever had. Nothing fancy, but that's how you know it's going to be good. I can't stress enough that you NEED to stop here and eat their food if you are nearby.

First there motto is "The Worse BBQ in Texas"...honestly there setting the bar so low for when you walk in and eat. I think that may be there attempt at humor. Secondly, this is the original location. Rudy started a convience store with a gas station where the community could meet and socialize. Then in 1989 he decided to start making BBQ and it seems to have taken off quite well. There are many locations in Texas and a few in neighboring states. While on a business trip this was one of our company outings or as I like to call it group fun. I really did not get to go through the ordering process instead our food was ordered by the locals in the group and we just headed to our tables to dive in. I must admit that messy BBQ among complete strangers is a great co-worker ice breaker. There is something so delicious about a smoked meat covered in delicious BBQ sauce and Rudy did not let me down. We had so much food to eat. There was beef brisket, pork loin, chicken, ribs and sausage. It was hard to just pick one that I could call my favorite. Trust me I tried everything and I couldn't stop. This meal must include a run and I knew what I had in store for me the next morning. One thing I don't understand about real BBQ is the white bread. Why? Maybe I should do an internet search to find the answer. It just seems like a cheap way to wipe up the sauce. Plain white bread not toasted and with no butter doesn't appeal to me. So I definitely skipped the white bread. I have no idea if I will ever make it back here but if I do, then I plan on making a visit here. I probably have a better chance of visiting one of there franchises. I hope they are as good as the original Rudy's. So if you're looking for a good original BBQ place, then look no further then here. The senses of your eyes, nose & mouth will thank you. Your sense of touch will get mad when you wipe off the sauce on your hands with a piece of white bread.

This is the original store, and we have been eating here for years. We used to pick up our food here and take it up to Boerne city lake and eat it, before they restricted four wheelin' and the place got "discovered" by other people. Anyway, the brisket at Rudy's is so tender and moist it just makes my mouth water thinking about it. Their sausage is delicious, too. In fact, I can't think of anything on their menu that's not tasty.

What a fun little stop on our way out of San Antonio! The staff was awesome, except for one cranky gal but she can't ruin this. Hubby got brisket, creamed corn, and slaw. He about died it was so good. The staff and I had a great time joking around and some of the locals explained the "road beer" concept to me. Talk about awesome! We also got gas, stocked up on water, and took our dogs for a walk. Loved it! Do yourself a favor and stop here.
