My husband and I spent 3 nights at this Inn last Fall and loved it so much we returned last week and spent 4 nights in the Carriage House room. We enjoyed going back to a place that felt like home away from home to us. The owners are very friendly and helpful and they prepare a wonderful full course breakfast. The Inn is very beautiful and located within walking distance to town for dining.

We have been staying with Don and Javier for all six years we have been vacationing in Maine . We started with 3 days and now spend 7 days at Harbour Cottage Inn. We love the Downeaster room, having a very healthy breakfast on the porch each morning or just setting on the porch relaxing each evening after biking around Acadia National Park during the day. Our hosts have become great friends. Next year we are considering staying in one of their cottages or the carriage house. Love this great location.

Superb in Every Way! These two wonderful innkeepers have perfected the balance of respect for your privacy with giving you their undivided attention should you request their help. They also have a staff of three delightful young people who attend to guests’ needs in addition to performing various duties such as waitstaff, housekeeping and check in. We stayed two weeks at this inn and never regretted our decision for a moment. Don warmly greeted us at our first breakfast and introduced us to Javier, his business partner. Part of my reason for choosing this inn was the description of their breakfasts. I was looking for something special and was certainly not disappointed. Javier’s domain is the kitchen. I recently heard a chef talk about the importance of presentation because he said, “You eat with your eyes first”. Javier certainly knows this, because each morning he produces a wonderful entrée that is presented on your plate like a miniature work of art and tastes even better than it looks! He alternates a savory entrée with a sweet entrée each day. My favorite savory entrée was a baked egg which comes with your choice of toppings and sides in addition to a homemade biscuit and the most marvelous homemade marmalade your will ever taste. I have a sweet tooth, so choosing a favorite among the sweet entrées is impossible! In addition to the entrée, there are cereals and granola, four juices to choose from, fresh fruit and homemade muffins or scones. The inn itself is lovely and our room The Captain’s Nook was a delight. The inn is situated within walking distance to Southwest Harbor which is perfect for the nights you want to park your car at the inn and walk into town for dinner. This inn has all the special touches: cheese, crackers, grapes and small cookies in the afternoon, a small guest refrigerator to store leftovers from your dinner the night before, coffee and a selection of teas, an ice bucket, apples, a candy dish, and a chocolate candy on your water glass in your room each night! You have all this plus a beautifully appointed inn with a relaxing common area and two delightful hosts. You will see the twinkle in Don’s eyes when he gives you his undivided attention should you have any question. If you are lucky enough to catch Javier outside of the kitchen and compliment this wonderfully modest man on his cooking, he will reward you with a smile that lights up his whole face! What more could you possibly ask for? From the bottom of our hearts we thank you and wish you every good thing in the future!

This was my first trip to Maine, I had a great time in Southwest Harbor, great town with good restaurants and friendly locals. The Harbour Cottage Inn was very clean, comfortable, restful, with a better than great breakfast. The Innkeepers really enjoyed their work and were very helpful in providing a great itinerary. I may have even learned how to eat a lobster, but may need to return to sharpen my skills. I really loved the whole Arcadia area, very photogenic and everything was within easy walking distance to the Bed and Breakfast. I like that!

How much do I love the Harbour Cottage Inn? Let me count the ways... Zero crowds from cruise ship traffic One fabulous porch Two fabulous innkeepers Three favorite guest rooms Four days isn't even enough Five minutes from the entrance to Acadia Six great restaurants within an easy walk This is really one of my all-time favorite inns in the world. The beautiful setting, the fabulous breakfasts, the porch, the cottage decor of the rooms. Harbour Cottage Inn has it all, and it's far from the maddening crowds of Bar Harbor, but easy enough to get there for an afternoon. I love, love, love it here!

I've stayed at Harbour Cottage Inn and at the weekly apartments several times in the last few years. It's always a great experience. The staff is very welcoming and take pride in their work. The breakfasts at the Inn are delicious. It's so relaxing to sit out on the porch enjoying the day. And the rooms are very comfortable and nicely furnished for both men and women's tastes. I have recommended the Inn to several of my couple and single friends who also have had great times there. I highly recommend the Harbour Cottage Inn. You will not be disappointed. Don and Javier, the owners, are great.

Our first visit to the Harbour Cottage Inn was to celebrate our 30th anniversary. We wanted everything to be special. The accommodations and ambience born of tasteful furnishings, tasty breakfasts, and knowledgeable innkeepers far exceeded our expectations...and we are seasoned travelers. We weren’t expecting to make the HCI an annual affair, but this year it will be for our 40th anniversary, and we haven’t missed one in between. Over the years we’ve met many interesting guests at the inn. Some make it their headquarters for a busy, activity-packed vacation. Others look to HCI as a quiet respite from busy, activity-packed lives back home. Based on our experience, it seems to work for everyone.

Wish I stayed longer! I wasn't sure we wanted to be on the quieter side of the island but it was great to be able to leave the crowds and stay in a grand old victorian house in a pretty little town. This is a gem of a location and the inn was just perfect. Our room was so quaint and clean, the owners were friendly and shared a lot of their knowledge about the island, and the food was great! I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. And I definitely will be visiting this area again.
