Boringdon Hall Hotel

Situated on the edge of the idyllic Dartmoor National Park and just ten minutes from the vibrant marine city of Plymouth, the 4-star Boringdon Hall Hotel provides a peaceful and tranquil refuge from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

The earliest mention of Boringdon Hall can be found in the 1086 Domesday Book and from that day forward Boringdon has chronicled a rich and fascinating history. Retaining its traditional charm and quirky, historic character to this day, Boringdon successfully combines the atmosphere of a bygone era with the comforts of modern day living.

Offering the very best of English hospitality, this family owned and run Hotel has a total of 40 luxury ensuite bedrooms – including majestic four-poster rooms and The Royal Suite, a split level suite which has its own hot tub in the original hotel turrets

We recently had a birthday party event at Boringdon Hall. We could not fault the place. The building and grounds are beautiful and all the staff are excellent. The receptionists were very helpful and the waiters and bar staff were attentive, friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Ali, the event manager ensured everything ran smoothly and is really on the ball. We could imagine it making a fantastic venue for a wedding. We even had a chance to see some of the rooms, which were comfortable, impressive and in-keeping with the history of the hotel. We will definitely be back!

The venue is lovely. However beware that they frequently hold private functions there, and the building is just not suitable for holding private functions without compromising peace and quiet for hotel guests. We stayed there on Friday and Saturday nights, and there was a wedding on Friday, and on Saturday, there was another wedding and an 18th birthday party. Though the bar with log fire was lovely, we didn't manage to use it as the place was cramped full of drunken chavs from the wedding, and the bar was playing loud dance/pop music totally not what you would expect of a place like this. Dinner at the restaurant was quite unpleasant as the restaurant was overlooking the bar below. Hence the diners could hardly converse for the noise from the bar below. It was like having dinner in a club. Really not what you expect in a fancy restaurant. The hotel doesn't seem to know what audience it is targeting. Don't go there if you expect a tranquil retreat. From the looks of it, this private function mess seems to be a regular occurrence.

Stopped here on a business trip and the hotel is one of the best I've ever speed in. Great service. Breakfast was expensive but very nice and worth it. Will definitely stay again

Stayed with my wife in November impressive building with loads of character and original features. The room was clean and comfortable. Enjoyed our stay although I would say that they need to improve the reception rooms.

My Husband, Daughter and myself have just returned from a two night stay. Generally the hotel was OK, clean room and nice decor. However, we were very dissapointed with breakfast, we didn't really expect self service and having to queue to make your own toast, then having tea poured from a massive jug which splashed all over the saucer and table, reminiscent of having tea on a flight! The Hotel markets it's self as a classy retreat, but breakfast was exactly the same as a holiday Inn. I was also frustrated that when ordering an evening meal via room service, the receptionist's grasp of the English language meant I ended up having to spell my order to her. I must say though that the food was excellent. On a final note we did not receive our alarm call OR morning paper. I really hope that the Hotel do put right the things that let them down, as the building is beautiful and obviously a lot of money has been spent on the decor.
