Wendy Raquel Robinson

“Trust God, Stay Humble and Do the Work”
As Told to Ladel Lewis

Whether you know her as high school principal Regina “Piggy” Greer from the Steve Harvey Show, as sports agent Tasha ‘Sojourner’ Mack from the hit series The Game, or Cruella De Vil from the Disney movie Descendants, Wendy Raquel Robinson makes hard work look so easy while looking fabulous in the process. When asked her secret to youth and longevity, she asserts, “There is no secret, it’s God. I love to laugh and live an active life.” This seasoned multigenerational actress has been in the game over 25 years and counting.

Every woman has a story. Here is an excerpt from Courageous Woman, Dr. Shavneet Kler....

CW: How have you been Courageous, Dr.Kler?

Dr. Kler: When I decided that I wanted to be a doctor; that I wanted to be a chiropractor. I got a one-way ticket on a Greyhound bus to Iowa. I had never seen Iowa. I had never been there. Iowa was the place that chiropractic was founded. I couldn’t afford it. I knew this was the place that I was supposed to be. I did not know my roommate. I had talked to her on the phone. I told her if we get along, I’d stay. If not, I will give her one week’s rent and move out. That was taking a leap of faith!

CW: Wow! That was definitely taking a leap of faith! You wanted your dream just that bad and you were not taking no for answer. You were determined to succeed by any means necessary! That takes a lot of courage. Why did you press through that fear?

Dr. Kler: I was at a stage in my life that I just knew. I did not come from a family of great wealth. I knew what I had to do. I was very clear. I was scared. But you just have to face that fear. One’s greatest growth happens when they face and overcome their fears.

CW: What would you tell a woman that needs to take the leap of faith? Especially a woman who does not have the money to fund the dream.
