Man are we all in for a treat. Glitch Gallery has been very lucky and is very honored to have a heavy hitter in the Tattoo and Low Brow art communities. This coming August 31st, Glitch Gallery is proud to host Gunnar!!

I am so excited for all the new stuff Gunnar has put together for us that I wish I could show you more right now! We’ve been looking forward to this show and all the wonderful art that he’ll bring to the table and we can’t wait for you to be here with us and see it. Trust me, a picture online or in a magazine just doesn’t do any justice.

Oh! And be sure to go over to his website, Artofgunnar.com, to see even more of his work!!

This week we continue our Spotlight Series on Tanane Whitfield with his largest piece: “Valerie (AKA- Shit Girls Like).”

“[It’s] kinda self explanatory. I live in a house with 4 women…what else would I come up with?” ~Tanane Whitfield

Well you take inspiration from where you are but, and maybe it’s just me, but I’ve never classified blood and feathered top hats under “shit girls like,” have you?? So what do you think should be classified that way? Like us on Facebook and leave a comment with what you think!! =)

I’m a week late on this week’s spotlight series but here, at last, is: “Oasia Militia.”

“The war against Terrobella has begun! Three Special Ops. Lemurs have come to take over the very swamp they were born in.” ~Tanane Whitfield

There’s that Terrobella mentioned again. You gotta wonder what crazy worlds are playing out in Tanane’s head that he’s just dying to get out!!

Stay tuned for next week’s Spotlight! It’ll be on time, I promise!

Next up on our weekly Spotlight Series on Tanane Whitfield is his showpiece: “Thinking Cap.”

“[My] second marker study. Inspired by random thoughts in my head of having a lack of ideas and wishing I had a thinking cap.” ~Tanane Whitfield

Wow. Wish I had thought up that. This guy stands at 11” x 14” and is Marker on Bristol Paper. So, not even a thought in his head and Tanane can still whip up something awesome. Just goes to show you, even a study or a doodle can be great art if it comes from a great artist!!

Stay tuned for next week’s Spotlight!

This week we continue our Spotlight Series on Tanane Whitfield with one of his two dimensional pieces: “Deadpool.”

“I’m a Marvel Comic fanatic!! Deadpool is on of my favorites.” ~Tanane Whitfield

This little guy is Acrylic on a vinyl Munny, measuring in at 7” x 5” x 4”. I don’t know about you but it’s rather fitting that Tanane’s favorite is the “merc with the mouth.” You think he sees himself as the Deadpool of the Tattoo world? Might not be far off.

Stay tuned for next week’s Spotlight!

This week we continue our Spotlight Series on Tanane Whitfield with his other dimensional piece: “Teefy F. Baby.”

“I had a fight with my wife. Went into my garage, threw a can of paint and it exploded. Days later after the fumes faded I found the can and peeled off the wrapper revealing a new canvas.” ~Tanane Whitfield

Leave it to an artist to find a silver lining, or in this case a new place to paint!

Stay tuned for next week’s Spotlight! Our last on Tanane Whitfield.

Right on time this week is our spotlight on Tanane Whitfield’s “Eyelash Viper.”

“[This was my] first time using markers to complete a design. This was intended [to be] for a tattoo I was gonna do.” ~Tanane Whitfield

This little girl was another of our front-runners, catching everyone’s eye (pun certainly intended) with her watercolor style treatment.  She stands 8” x 16” and is Marker on Paper.

So, this week we continue our Spotlight Series on Tanane Whitfield with another illustration: “Caprice.”

“Scouting for her master, Caprice was taken off the board by Terobella’s silent protector. Her brother, BOX, is on his way from Oasia to settle his sister’s score.” ~Tanane Whitfield

This girl stands 11” x 14” and is Bic Pen on Bristol Paper. Man, you can’t help but love a good story behind a piece. Enough of these guys have tales to tell with their work that you could probably make a full book outta them!!

Stay tuned for next week’s Spotlight!

So, this week we continue our Spotlight Series on Tanane Whitfield with the tiny terror: “Turtleneck & Chain.”

“[It was] inspired by Lonely Island’s ‘Turtnleneck & Chain.’ I love comedy! If you’ve heard the song, you know what this is!” ~Tanane Whitfield

Well that certainly sounds like an assignment to me, doesn’t it to you? “Turtleneck & Chain” measures in at just 4.5” x 6.5” and is Marker on Bristol.

So, homework then: stare at Tanane’s work while listening to the inspiration behind it and tell us what you think! Comment on our here and we’ll see if we see what he sees! Know what I mean?

Stay tuned for next week’s Spotlight!
