This is one of the most amazing places I have been in a while. The natural beauty of the river and the limestone banks make for adventure at every turn!
The trail is in 2 pieces with a patch of private land in between. If you park at the boat ramp, it is free for day use. This spring is located just off to the left of the parking area and is easily accessible. It is maybe half a mile or so and you can definitely swim here. All together the trail is 8.5 miles. We made it maybe 3 or so. We had a great time, enjoy the view.
"The Big Oak Trail is one of the most scenic hikes in North Florida and is part of the statewide Florida Trail. Much of the hiking parallels the Suwannee and Withlacoochee Rivers, which meet here at a confluence where the Withlacoochee (not to be confused with the one in Central Florida) flows south from Georgia to enter the Suwannee River. Along the loop portion of the hike, there are many deep sinkholes and tall trees, including the namesake Big Oak, which has a base big enough it takes eight people holding hands to circle around it." http://floridahikes.com/big-oak-trail

Florida has some of the best shelling around. A great place to find nice intact specimens is #guanatolomatomatanzas beach. I have linked the location below. This is an amazing area with natural coastlines and untouched tidal marshes. You feel like you are back in time. No hotels, houses or businesses along this beautiful slice of Florida. All together there are 26 different coastal areas you can visit with in the reserve. If you are ever up around the St. Augustine area, this park is just north of there and absolutely worth the trip!

Florida has a great many roads to travel here and there. The turnpike however, is referred to as "Main Street" Florida. I just love to gaze out the window as the landscape passes by. I had always admired this view and finally got up the courage to just stop here and grab a shot to share with all of you folks!
This is located just south of the last toll booth in Lake City, on the west side of the road.

Hope all is well. If you can not get enough of these eclipse pictures, here is another! This was taken in North Central Florida, where it was 85%. The clouds made for challenging viewing but I was able to grab this shot.

Fort Clinch is one of many remaining forts here in Florida. At over 1,400 acres, Fort Clinch State Park is situated on Florida’s northernmost barrier island- Amelia Island. This site was first fortified in 1736 by the Spanish, when they held colonies in Florida. From 1736, various nations to control the territory have garrisoned and fortified this site to protect the entrance to the St. Marys River and Cumberland Sound.
I choose an antique processing for this image because it stills feels like this when you visit. This is a beautiful park with lots to do for the whole family.

Thought I would share some of Florida's smaller world with you today.
If you have every been to Florida..... we have some of the most unusual insects. Bugs of all sorts, shapes, shells and fur, LOL. Well here is a fella I found out back. Soon after sporting this great hair style, he changed into a silver moth.
Find joy in all the small things that surround your daily life. Just know, there is always someone out there having a worse hair day then you! :)
