What do you think, is this pseudo QML Code save or not?

This is basically copied from the official qt/qml documentation. I have seen this piece of code in many qml projects but are you aware of what you do?

    function createObjectFromComponent() {
         var component = Qt.createComponent("Button.qml");
         return  component.createObject(parent, {"x": 100, "y": 100});
    }

I learned it the hard way: THIS is practially a memory leak...

The outcome is: each time this createObjectFromComponent function is called one QDeclarativeComponent gets added as child object to the QDeclarativeEngine and it will not be destroyed 'ever'. Since you loose the reference to the created component you will also never ever be able to destroy it by hand.

Whats the solution?

     function createObjectFromComponent() {
          var component = Qt.createComponent("Button.qml");
          component.destroy(1)
          return  component.createObject(parent, {"x": 100, "y": 100});
     }

This will destroy the factory in the next mainloop run and everything will just fine.

The conclusion of this,... Keep your brain working; Always :)
This property holds the status of component loading. It can be one of: Component.Null - no data is available for the component; Component.Ready - the component has been loaded, and can be used to crea...

Another fine example where the language takes care of the ugly details and your std web coder does not need to care. I think many JavaScript engines work in similar way which any end user is able to observe when their instance of Firefox or Safari hogs 2 gig of memory after week's use. I remember the Meltemi team working on the V8's memory releases but I am not sure if they released anything to the wild about it.

Yup, "Consistency", the lame excuse for not having thought hard enough to find a good solution.

DIY Crossover cable (with no tools)

I need a crossover cable to run some test with my RPi and was looking up the cable color diagram and ran into this...

Not sure if I should do this, but it's pretty funny and brilliant at the same time :)
