A cohort of consumer advocacy groups are calling for Philip Morris International to end its global "Be Marlboro" campaign, and is calling for all countries to adopt stricter regulations that would in effect ban all marketing, promotion and sponsorship from tobacco companies.

Some progress towards a truly #smokefree DC. There's still more work to be done, but it's great to see the City Council working on advancing its smoke-free policies.

Carole from South Carolina is asking Waffle House to make all of their restaurants ‪#‎smokefree‬. There are countless reasons why restaurants should go 100% smoke-free, but for starters - no one should have to choose between their paycheck and their health.

Fifteen-year-old "Elena" is typical. She would get up at 3 a.m. to make lunches, she said, then go up and down the rows removing flowers from tobacco plants for 12 or more hours a day. "It smells of chemicals and it gives you a headache," she told me. "Sometimes I feel like vomiting... We can't get sick because then we can't work."

McDonald's is planning to open vegetarian-only restaurants in India. A good reminder that meatless doesn't automatically equal healthy.
