Chakhumgi Wainam - Rice Husk Stove
5 bag of rice husks can last for a month in a family of 7 members @ Rs 10 per bag of rice husks available at the nearest local rice mill. Thus the amount a family has to spend per month in cooking is Rs 50. If people started using Chakhumgi Wainam the State can save a huge amount of money.

Now that the MPs from the region have jointly raised the issue of discrimination against people from North East in the Parliament, we would to speculate at least some positive results towards putting an end to the menace.

Nonetheless, besides the security measures which our Honourable MPs expect from the Union Home Ministry to ensure protection of people from North East, we strongly feel that there is an urgent need to educate the so-called mainstream people on the cultural and racial diversity of India so as to stop them from looking upon Northeasterners as the 'others'.

Then only, the problem could be resolved and the Northeasterners could feel safer in their own country.

The power requirement for a small state like Manipur is very small if we compare it to other states of India. It can be met easily if government pays proper attention and planning in a systematic way by making a state policy in the Solar Energy sector as the countries like USA, Australia, Canada, China etc. have successfully done and achieved. Many business establishments have closed and many more are closing down soon due to serious power shortage in the state.

Climate change can affect fish directly, by affecting their physiology, growth and behaviour and indirectly, for example, through affects on ecosystem structure and function. For poikilothermic (cold-blooded) animals like fish, warming will directly affect their metabolism. Growth rates in temperate (mild temperature) species are predicted to increase initially as temperature rise, but then decline as individual struggle to maintain cardiac function and respiration in the faces of increased metabolic demands. Researchers have provided evidence in consistent with this prediction for a marine fish Cheilodactylus spectabilis in Tasman Sea; one of the most rapidly warming regions of the southern hemisphere ocean.

What is stopping Manipur State from opening own Passport cell?
Why can't we have an office of our own? While a more remotely located place like Itanagar has its own passport office, it speaks volumes that Manipuris still depend on faraway Guwahati. At this time of economic liberation and a global village, the national frontiers are opening up and people going to foreign countries are bound to increase. High time the government do some serious re-think on establishing a passport office in Imphal.

For a smooth and sound administration, the kingdom of Moirang was divided into eight (8) Leikai or Wards or Sectors under one leader called Leikai Lakpa like the present councilor of ward; and constructed nine market places (Keithels in different suitable sites for each and every Leikais except that of Khori Keithel). Such all achievements are said to be the landmark achievements of Iwang Puriklai Phang Phang.

Except for a lucky few, every Manipuri in our state lives a life with constant threat to life. There is always a danger of being killed for reason unknown. If one moves out of the state, into mainland India, one again runs the risk of being racially discriminated if not sexually harassed or killed. One wonders who is to blame for the racial discrimination and why it is there. Whoever one may point one's finger at, one must admit that this racial discrimination stems out of ignorance and conflict of outlook in life and interest.

The initial report that Loitam Richard was beaten to death by some senior hostelmates when he changed the television channel while they were watching a match of the IPL has been refuted by the family members now and this opens up a whole set of new questions, for which there are no answers as yet. However this is besides the point.

The fact, the heart breaking cold fact is, the life of a young man, pursuing a degree in Architecture has been snuffed out and that it was not a natural death is clear. He was killed, prima facie.

Brutality is written all over the death of the young man and this is what is galling.

All the reports that we have received so far are sketchy, with the Bangalore police awaiting the post mortem report, but what should be clear to all is the fact that it was more of a case of a group of students ganging up against him, rather than a physical confrontation between two young students.

If we go along this premise then premeditated attack, with the intent to inflict the maximum damage, cannot be ruled out at all. How can a group of students suddenly gang up and then attack a lone student fellow and assault him to such an extent that it led to his death ?

All contents at this site are directly contributed by the users or are aggregated from the contributors through our network of supporters/users. The site is a store house of information ranging from Manipuri Names to RecipesNews to Views, Books to Bands, Timelines to Editorials,Calendar to Pictures, Social Networking to Chat, Radio to Video. It is also the first site to webcast articles written on the traditional Meitei script (Eyek).

The site believes in peace and healthy co-existence and in showcasing anything Manipuri for the rest of the world.
