When the Cuckoo Sings
As I sat musing by the pond I heard the first cuckoo sing And I thought to myself Surely this is a definite sign of spring? Drunken bumble bees stumble in the clover The magnolia is in full bloom. Walking further to the farmers fields I witnessed white clou...

Yesterday
Yesterday was a beautiful day, with candy floss skies and tall grasses whispering happiness. Now too hot for my woolly jumper I strip it off and spread it on the ground. Lying down, breathing in the hint of summer watching as my dog sniffs the air. Small th...

Sea
Yesterday I heard the sea how it roared and moaned. Yesterday I saw the sea grey, white with angry frothing it spat at me. I tasted the sea salty on my skin and I was happy and afraid. I salute you sea for your treachery and hypnotic beauty.

Walking the dog
Walking the dog in the rain Fields are devoid of activity today, clouds grey and weary. A loud thud thud as a Chinook rumbles, catching my attention. Dog bounces and skids in the mud, whilst I slide in the sludge. Throwing a ball with all my might a white t...

I went camping in the New Forest for a few days. It is Just as magical now as when I was a child. Shep was brilliant with the roaming cattle and horses; and a great companion for me. He was a great hit with the rangers, who thought he was the best dog ever. I have to agree with them.

Thames Path
A walk along the Thames path bitter March wind whips and slashes I am chilled to the bone. White clouds graze on carpets of green water fowl float on a tempestuous river. Not a hint of summer.

Like sand
A million sea shells smashed, As sand they slip through his fingers, Like the life he has used up and wasted. Withered old man sits on a bench and remembers.

After the chaos and excess of December comes the slow death of January The month that I was born. A thousand foot prints frosted on the ground time forgot. Each path is long and life depressingly short. In the stillness, th...
