Rollhard are running a charity event at Coventry Transport Museum this Sunday. They have a friend with a daughter who is deaf and we wanted to raise money for her charity, KDCS, and also for Candle Lighters in Yorkshire. The RH founding members' daughter is undergoing chemo at the minute so they are basically giving everything they can to raise funds for both charities.
This is very much a chilled event and totally free day open to the public (as it's at the front of Coventry Transport Museum).
They are holding a raffle on the day for various items kindly donated by their sponsors.
They also have a justgiving page http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserPage.action?userUrl=RollHardxCharity&faId=614502&isTeam=false

I am Hamish Jack, and I am a Trustee of the Kent Deaf Children’s Society (KDCS). This April, I will be running the London Marathon to raise funds for the charity.
My daughter Catherine is deaf, which is how my association with KDCS came about. Catherine has never let deafness prevent her doing anything she has wanted to do, and is now studying Engineering at Coventry. She is a great inspiration to my family and we are very proud of her.
KDCS is a self-funding group, run totally by volunteers providing activities and events for deaf children, their families and friends. Our aim is to support deaf children (including those with additional needs) and their families across Kent, providing a growing social network, fun activities for all and where appropriate educational opportunities for our members.
I would love to give something back to this great charity and so in a moment of madness I have agreed to run the London Marathon this year.
Your donations and support would be greatly appreciated, and it is really simple to do through Virgin Money Giving. http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/HamishJack All donations will be quickly processed and passed to charity. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.
Many thanks in advance for all your support and donations Hamish Jack Treasurer

We have an amazing diary of events booked for this year - Easter Eggstravaganza at Westenhanger Castle, Summer Fun Day, Snow White & 7 dwarfs panto, Playtime sessions, Deaf Teen Activate sessions, 912 & teens social events and much more. These are member only events, contact office@kdcs.org for more information.

So, it's started! Today, sees a month of Waitrose Green Coin collecting for KDCS. Please share with your Friends and Family who support your deaf child. As a not for profit, volunteer organisation with only a single member of part time staff (the lovely Jo in Administration), we can make our monies go a LONG way in benefitting our member deaf children.
This photo was sent to us by someone visiting the Waitrose store in Tonbridge.
For regular updates, please follow @KDCSorg on Twitter. The account is very active and shares information relating to deafness not just our own KDCS bits and pieces.

A big THANK YOU to SGN (Scotia Gas Networks) Ashford branch, they ran a sweepstake for the football plus had an instant raffle to raise funds for their chosen charity. The charity they chose to raise for was KDCS, they raised a total of £483.96, SGN then match funded the total making a total £967.92 raised. Here is a photo of Chair Lady, Louise Henley collecting the cheque. We greatly appreciate all donations / funds raised by members and supporters of KDCS as all money is fed back into the events we run for you.

EXCITING NEWS; During the month of February Waitrose is supporting KDCS nationally in their 'Community Matters Scheme'. Every shopper will be given the opportunity to use tokens to nominate KDCS along with 2 other charities. Each charity will receive a share of £1000 based on their ratio of tokens. So to all those Waitrose shoppers and anyone who would be happy to change stores for February - please support us.

All the Waitrose stores across the UK will be participating so please share the news far and wide.

Happy Christmas Everybody, we hope you have a festive time, see you in the New Year 2015
