Couldn't LEAVE faster!!!!!! I have lived in many different apartment complexes over the years but the Windjammer is by FAR the worst!! Going against my better judgement, I dismissed all of the negative feedback I heard from friends and former residents. Once I moved in, it wasn't long before I realized why people hate this apartment complex so much. The walls are paper thin!!! I've experienced this in other apartments but not to this extreme. You can hear EVERYTHING!!!!!! even normal phone conversations! EVEN my upstairs neighbor snoring every night!! And if you enjoy music, sorry you can't play any!! Neighbors and office staff will send the resident cop around door to door, discouraging any noise. And I'm not talking BLASTING your music.. no, i mean simply turning your television louder than a whisper!!! You wonder "how can these apartments be so cheap with such a great location?" Thats because they screw you over with hidden fees. Once you've signed the lease.. one by one a new fee appears every month! Surprise!! you have to pay extra for amenities! The pool and workout room look great but cough up the cash or you can't use them! Do you enjoy your sleep? Well if you live here you wont get ANY!!! at 4am every day the loudest truck in the world spends 30 minutes getting the trash from the dumpster. They're so loud, you'll quickly learn the trucks schedule by heart! I applaud them for keeping up with lawn care, however, EVERY day at 7AM you will be woken up by the sounds of lawn mowers and leaf blowers!! And if you plan on sleeping during the day to make up for the fact that you dont get any sleep at night, FORGET IT! There are hordes of children who think its funny to terrorize the neighborhood. They painted my door and stole my wreath. They would also bounce basketballs of the side of the building RIGHT where my bedroom was. I would open my front door only to find BIKES laying right in my walkway. (thats if it didnt rain the night before preventing me from even SEEING my walkway) They think they're doing you a favor with all of the "community alerts" but after a week of CONSTANT knocks on your door and notes left on your doorstep, you'll be OVER IT!!! in the 6 months I lived in the Windjammer, there were 2 people who had their car broken into, 1 person had their car actually stolen, and someone stole some items that were on my patio. Even AFTER i gave my ridiculous 60 days notice that i wasn't renewing my lease, they STILL charged me 2 months extra rent AND $100 extra per month! The staff is a bunch of incompetent old hags who lack the education to get a job anywhere else! Lets be serious!

I lived at Windjammer Apartments for a while a little over a year ago and found it to be a great place to live. The office staff is cheerful and helpful. The maintenance staff is competent and responsive. In both of the incidents that I called for them, they were there within the hour and, in keeping with their sundown policy, had the problems fixed by the end of the day. Unfortunately, my job required me to move away, so I had to leave. Despite what others have said in these reviews, I worked with the office, giving them sufficient notice of early lease termination and they worked with me to minimize the impact for me and for them. I'm in the process of moving back to Charleston and have already contacted Julie and her staff to rejoin the community there. Once again, they were very friendly and professional and have made the process very easy. Don't listen to the haters who normally post their experiences. For every one of them who had a bad experience (probably because of their own inappropriate behavior), there are scores of us who live there and enjoy every day of the experience.

I lived there for 18 months and could not save the money for another place fast enough. Every time that I walked near the volleyball court I stepped in either dog or cat poo. I had a water leak that did not get repaired for a month leaving a nasty stain on the ceiling for the remainder of my stay. I was charged for two months rent even after I gave notice of leaving. I tried to work it out with them and they still hit my credit with it. There were cats that always climbed on my car leaving paw prints on the hood and when I reported it they always replied by saying call animal control. I had neighbors that would fight and the walls seemed to be way to thin. It is a poor community.
