Zeebie, 100% wolf, and his handler, Alex Hall, from the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge in Wilmington, NY. They have such a great connect, it was a pleasure to shoot photograph them.

A most excellent moonscape captured by +Jim Gilbert!

Moon Gone Bad

Everyone ran out and shot the moon the other night. Well, I got my good, "pretty" shots of the moon, nice and crisp, yadda yadda... but something about the same moon under a stormy sky over a little lake reeking a little havoc just make me happier. I wonder why that it.

A valuable lesson told in this story and image by +Joe Meirose shared for everyone at +Adirondack Friday :)

Lesson Learned

I always seem to be in a hurry. Chasing my kids, chasing the end of a long list of things that need to be done in a today, chasing the perfect time of day to shoot, and I'm always chasing light. I hardly ever just sit back and relax. Even when shooting, I'm constantly looking for the next composition.

One day I found myself, set up on huge rocks, overlooking the St. Lawrence River in upstate NY, watching this fisherman. He seemed to be completely unaware of time. Meandering around in his little rowboat, casting his line out occasionally. I was mesmerized by his care free appearance. Somehow, in this crazy world where we all are chasing dreams and a means to an end, he was content slowly poking round the river. Maybe he has already found his epic fish. Whatever it was, I enjoyed the short break in my race.

I wanted to get the word out for a new +Daily Photography Themes This is my first endeavor at curating a group, but I have a big place in my heart for this region, so I'll be sure to share my captures and enjoy whatever photos anyone may have of this great Park.

For those who aren't familiar with the Adirondacks, "The park covers some 6.1 million acres, a land area greater than Vermont, or than Yellowstone, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Glacier, and Great Smoky Mountains National Parks combined.
Much of the land is directly controlled by the state's Forest Preserve, but more than half the land within the Adirondack Park is privately owned, including several villages and hamlets." ~ Wikipedia

I'll be sure to try and get more info and links on the themes page, but I wanted to get the word out to anyone interested in contributing. Looking forward to your entries =)
