A new UN report 'Food Wastage Footprint: Impacts on Natural Resources' reveals that the world wastes 1.3 billion tons of food each year, causing economic losses of $750 billion. Plus, there's the damage to the environment. http://www.unep.org/wed/ has usedful tips on how to reduce your food waste.

UNEP have launched the 23rd International Children's Painting Competition. This years theme is 'Food waste'. Entrants could win up to US$ 2,000 with a fully paid trip for the winner and a chaperone to a UNEP event.

Introduction

Greening the Blue was launched by Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon on 5 June 2010 (World Environment Day). The campaigns purpose is to inform UN staff and other stakeholders of what’s happening to green the UN and how they can get involved, providing toolkits, advice and other resources to raise awareness of green issues.
