Kudos to the folks on the Cyanogen teams working to keep our bargain basement Touchpads relevant by porting Android over to them. I've been running ICS on mine for a while, and now Jelly Bean is on it's way. Now if they could just get the camera and microphone to work in these builds, I'd be good to go!

THIS is why I have no degree... no seriously, it has nothing to do with starting college at age 16 with a love of incredibly cheap beer

This optical illusion is so odd, because it seems plainly obvious that the two squares are different shades... right up until I block out the adjacent squares, and as I'm doing it, my eyes tell me that the "darker" square is lightening up.
Thanks to +Norman Ramsey for sharing this 3D recreation of Ted Adelson's famous checker-shadow illusion. Due to the beautiful complexities of the human visual system, two checkerboard tiles of identical luminance have different apparent luminance (or brightness). In a previous life, I kept a collection of such illusions on the door of my office to amuse and hypnotize colleagues. Some favorites are here:

Well, that "Hangout" was an epic failure... seems the Google video chat drivers don't like my integrated microphone.

Wrote my first Android/iPhone app today! Admittedly, it's a sad little app, but it's mine. Now I just need to a.) Buy a Mac so that I can build and deploy it to my iPhone, or b.) Buy an Android phone to deploy it to from my laptop.
