I finally got around to building my shaving appliance. I figured out a way to make the head angle adjustable so that it can be used sitting or standing.

The log is sawn, stacked, stickered and strapped! This cherry log is 9' long and we trimmed it down to 20" wide. Although not as clear as my previous log there is still a lot of fine lumber here. It has excellent too. +Bill Sommers did and excellent job sawing this log to my specifications.
I stacked the boards on my newly fabbed lumber stand. I flipped every other board from the flitch cut so that as the boards attempt to twist as they dry the forces will work against each other rather than the whole stack twisting the same way together. Most of the flitch is cut at 1 1/8", but there are two planks that are cut at 10/4. That should allow for a 9/4 yield for the Boggs chair legs when it's all said and done.

This is a rack I welded up this week to put this log on to dry. I will stack the boards here and then strap them down to the rack.

Time to get another log sawn up. This one will have some boards specifically dimensioned for some more Boggs chairs. It looks like there might be a little crotch grain in there too. We'll know tomorrow! #LogToLumber   #woodworking

Another media cabinet is out the door! The entire piece is made from curly cherry. The customer planned to put an XBox, Playstation 3 and a Wii in here in addition to her multimedia receiver, cable modem, router and a small computer. Cooling was an issue as well as control of her devices. Fans would have been too noisy so we went with a passive ventilation system. The bottom of the case is ventilated as well as all of the shelves. The back is slatted so that it appears solid but lets air pass through easily. In addition, the slatted back allows for easy cord management. I also set her up with an IR repeater to control the IR devices. The game systems all use RF controls so everything will work with the doors closed.

This is an overview of the media cabinet I have just started. I was glad my client picked this design of the three because I've been wanting to build something like this for a while.
The overall dimensions were dictated by the customer so I had to work within those constraints.
