Beautiful and inspiring food experience with a nice server; Enjoyed most of my food (the cold noodles were a little too heavy for me), the dishes were very colorful with a variety of different nutrients. The restaurant also rates high on decor; it looks like a good bar experience with a bar with seating, a large high top with bar chairs, and a few 2-4 low tops. I made the right decision to order both dessert specials for me and my friend. Might be a little more expensive than your average Cantonese seafood or Sichuan restaurant dish.

The food is amazing. Definitely worth the small trek!

A cozy, dimly lot restaurant in the Lower East Side that focuses on dishes found in the Yunnan Province in China. As a whole, the food is fine; the Scrambled Egg with Jasmine and Rice Cakes are only slightly upscale versions of the originals. Their grilled pork belly is delicious, though, and served on a skewer. Plates are smaller-portioned, so you'll need to order more to make an actual meal.

One of the many hipster Asian spots on the LES, the food is pleasant but unchallenging and could push the envelope more. Great for a date, not for your Chinese parents. Also, the red spice blend is fantastic but when it's on the meatballs, the wings and your cocktail glass, everything starts tasting a bit alike.

Definitely worth a shot. Great but not exceptional food. Short but good menu which is better for sharing - I went as a couple but maybe a few more people would allow you to sample more items.

I came about 7:30pm on a Wednesday night and the place was almost empty when I arrived but bustling when I left. The food was great, service was prompt and the wait stay attentive. I came for the numbing spice so I ordered the fried chicken and the cucumber salad. Both were great and I'll be back more for the fried chicken as the weather gets colder.

yunnan kitchen is just okay.. menu sounded great but the actual dishes were good but nothing to rave about. service was slow for being such small plates and not that busy. made a reservation for 8pm and weren't seated till 8:10 and we weren't even confronted by wait staff until 8:35. kinda bogus. but if you do end eating here get the lamb meatballs, prawns or congee.

The food is ok. But as a yunnaness. The food dose not taste Yunnan at all. If you really looking for a true Yunnan taste, I don't recommend this place. But if just looking for cozy dating place, I'm sure the food won't be a distraction from ur conversations.
