Commandant Frank Draper granted honorary membership to Joanne Sulik today on behalf of the members of the Outer Banks Detachment in recognition of the courteous and expertly-performed embroidery services she has provided to the Marines of the Outer Banks Detachment for the period 1 January 2007 through 28 February 2017. Her efforts have been both noteworthy and instrumental in developing a sense of esprit-de-corps among our members, and further serves as evidence of her commitment to the Outer Banks Detachment and as an example for others to emulate, earning her the respect and admiration of our members.

Frank Draper, Russ Laney, Dennis Thompson, Ed Holton, Martha Pedersen and I were once again raising money this weekend at the Belk Charity Sale ticket sales event. We raised almost $400 that will be used to assist the Dare County Special Olympics at the end of the month, and for our three Citizenship Scholarships that will be awarded to one graduating senior from each of the county's three high schools.

Today, seven members of the Outer Banks Detachment performed a cleanup of the West Third Street Public Estuarine Access in Kill Devil Hills. Although the trash was minimal, we took the opportunity to also rake the area of leaves, pine cones, and branches--resulting in eleven large trash bags being filled.
