Our domain issue is resolved, so it's time to mention the release which we did last weekend… just the one or two UI changes here. Nothing much at all.
Alpha 29 is here! Details: Written by kharnov. Now for our 29th monthly alpha release! Hello everyone. There was an issue with our unvanquished.net domain name over the weekend, and we've been trying to get in touch with the registrar. We had hoped it would be resolved on Monday, ...

Release time again!

This time, we have a few model tweaks, some gameplay tweaks and a couple of map tweaks. Or something.
Alpha 28, with added bite. Details: Written by Anomalous. This release has several gameplay tweaks and map and model updates. A fresh coat of… textures. Maps and models. Two of our maps have received updates. Viech has made a few adjustments to Parpax – some which you'll notice quite quickly are ...

A little bit of site news here…
We've got a not-self-signed SSL certificate! Details: Written by Anomalous. Yes, it's true! There are still a few rough edges, so expect a few warnings from your browser for the moment. But, still, no self-signed certificate! We took advantage of (plug alert) OpenSSL's open-source SSL ...

That last one is worked around now – I set up proxying for that image. No more warnings about mixed content!

(I'll remove the proxy when I see that ModDB are doing HTTPS.)

We've been busy over the last day or so.

Or, possibly, over the last month or so.

Or something like that. Anyway, alpha 26…
Alpha 26. Batteries not included. Details: Written by Anomalous. We've been busy tweaking and adjusting and fixing things for this release. Batteries not included. Gameplay. The battery pack has been discharged and sent for recycling, and weapon magazine sizes have been adjusted to compensate.

~/.Unvanquished was used before this; it's basically minor re-organisation.

Following XDG may happen; no promises…

We've just hit some domain problems…

Circumstances beyond our control, unfortunately. However, we have a backup domain – use the link below.

Debian & Ubuntu users will need to replace debs.unvanquished.net with unv-debs.moreofthesa.me.uk in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/unvanquished.list or via an appropriate desktop tool. There's no change of servers, just of host name.

It's out!

Yes, it took three attempts to get rid of all of the VM problems, but we got there. Eventually.
Alpha 27, flying in your direction. Details: Written by Anomalous. New jetpack; use of Native Client; texture packs; translations; lots of behind-the-scenes changes. New jetpack. We have a new jetpack model. It has animations. It still runs out of fuel, though, but we plan to leave that as it is ...

Using OpenSSL? We are, but we don't enforce its use.

Since our server is on Debian stable, we're affected by this bug (see link). It's possible (but unlikely) that our SSL certificate (which is self-signed) has been compromised, so it will be replaced in due course with either another self-signed certificate or one from a CA which does free certs for open-source projects.

Oddly enough, that ‘proper’ cert was applied for yesterday, before we knew about this bug. Make of that what you will…

Another release happened on Sunday (or Monday, depending). Much GPU-friendly texture compression happened, and various other things sneaked in too. See the news article for full details…
Alpha 25 – feeling the squeeze. Details: Written by Anomalous. Less is more; new models, improved textures; humans are prey. Two years since our first release! What, already? Doesn't time fly… we've seen many changes to the code base, new maps, new models… modellers have come and gone, ...

That'd be because it's not there yet… nothing's set up for building for 14.04 as yet, but it'll be in place for the next release.

If you can't install the .debs for 13.10, shout.

Team-based FPS, derived from Tremulous
Introduction
Unvanquished is a humans-versus-aliens first-person shooter game, derived from Tremulous.

It's currently in alpha, has seen a few releases, and is undergoing some rapid development. Things may sometimes be broken, inconsistent or imbalanced; but that's work-in-progress for you.

We have weekly dev games on our Development and Testing Server. These are on Sundays at 20:00 GMT.

(Yes, we know that our logo's missing its corners. That's Google's fault.)
