Breeding for Nutrient Efficiency: A Model for the Future
Having
identified a plethora of putative QTLs that contribute to nutrient use
efficiency, the logical next step is to design appropriate selection strategies
for improving genotype efficiency against low nutrient stress. However,
not-so-significant effects ...

Please take a moment to ponder....

The world's human population has crossed a whopping 7 BILLION mark on 31 October 2011 as per the estimates of United Nations.

One child is born in every 0.20 second in this world; while a death is occurring at every 0.50 seconds

The present rate of population growth is alarming at a rate of a billion per decade.

Although population growth rate looks declining, in another 13 years from now we will cross 8 BILLION!!

India stands second to China, for the most populated countries of the world, both has over a billion people.

CHINA and INDIA are only the billionaire countries as of now.

At the present population growth rate, CHINA is set to stabilize its population by 2025; while in INDIA it will happen in 2060.

This means, INDIA will surpass CHINA for the top position in another decade or so.

Increase in population means more demand for food. It is alarming that the increase in food demand is exceeding the growth in food supply.

ARE WE PREPARED TO MEET THIS CHALLENGE?
ARE WE HEADING FOR A GLOBAL FAMINE?
CAN THIS CATASTROPHE BE AVERTED?

Here is a webpage that lists 7 BILLION PEOPLE on a single webpage!
It is probably the largest webpage on internet!
It runs approximately 1 mile (1.6 Km) high and 800 feet (250 m) wide.
