Just do not understand people and why they would want to take this wonderful animal off the face of this Earth, I do know why they do it, just don't understand the way they think.

Some kids sent us some great art...wish a few kids over in China and Vietnam could show it to their parents.

Thanks Tim, yes Gareth Morgan will ask them - John Cupido requested that we forward the questions to himself and he will ensure that they go to Gareth Morgan. John has a keen interest in the problem as well. Lunch was my pleasure. We should do at again soon....I have some further questions and would value your input.

So here is a thought. As many will know, we at SPOTS (and many others) are calling for a moratorium on all rhino hunting in South Africa. Our government is loath to action this, as are certain private rhino owners who contest that they make a living from hunting. I had a conversation yesterday with a Chinese national and he said this " our people who follow traditional Chinese medicine use the rhino horn for something that they believe will cure them of disease - no matter how stupid you believe that to be. Your government allows people to hunt rhino purely for the enjoyment of killing the animal and then to hang it's head on a wall so they can brag about their achievement. I ask you therefore, who is the more stupid one". Thought provoking indeed ?.

We have the same issue in lion bones and carcases exported. We get Gareth Morgan, the DA environmental spokesman to submit Parliamentary questions to the Minister for the export figures. But when we cross reference those with the CITES figures, published on the CITES website, they never correlate. Like many government departments, DEA is dysfunctional.

SPOTS - Strategic Protection Of Threatened Species
Introduction
Passionate about wildlife conservation - the protection of any and all threatened species. I am just so privileged, so fortunate, to be "living my dream" - to each day know that I have, in some way, contributed to even just one more of our wild creatures, running free. How lucky can one man be ?
Bragging rights
I tend to live life to the full...sometimes a little too close to the edge, so it is a major achievement for me to have reached my 50's. My nickname, to many, is "duggaboy" - one of those old buffalo that all the cows have rejected !
