The fairways and greens were good.  The bunkers were basically hard packed dirt.  If they would fix the bunkers the course would play more fair.

Dubbed as the best value in the East Bay, our par-72 golf course at Roddy Ranch Golf Club in Antioch, California measures over 7000 yards from the back tees. This Antioch golf course was designed by J. Michael Poellot, ASGCA, and opened for play in 2000. Roddy Ranch Golf Club has been noted as the Best Value in Northern California by Greenskeeper.org and dubbed as being "the finest golf course that's opened in the Bay Area golf in years."

Carved from a 2000-acre working cattle ranch, our course's 235 acres offer a true links-style layout over a canvas of an exquisite landscape. Undulating greens and strategically placed bunkers challenge every aspect of your short game.

Elevated tees and greens not only bring beautiful views, but demand precision play while teeing off from the tips. Gold and silver tees still require a heightened level of precision, but allow players to take advantage of wider areas in fairways and shorter approach shots. Roddy Ranch is definitely a bay area golf destination you won't be disappointed with. Book your next tee time with us here at Roddy Ranch..."Where Legends Live"!!

Great layout with many interesting holes. No houses to worry about, but if you hit it in the tall stuff in the summer - let it go, else you might meet a diamond back. Drawbacks - drought has resulted in many dry spots in fairways. Though you might get 20 yards more roll it is really a tight lie if you have to hit out of these areas. Greens can be like pool table. Better have plenty of spin to hold greens. Not too many holes allow for pitch and run shots. Not the place to go if you want a quick round. Very frustrating to see groups in front of you beating the weeds for balls they're not likely to find in under 20 minutes, if at all.

Love playing this course in the area! Especially since it is still one of the courses in the area that still has views not obstructed by housing! Nice terrain elevation changes and challenges! Love driving off the holes with massive drops! Still have great memories of my first and only hole-in-one on the 3rd hole! Bring your good putting stroke as the greens are slick like glass and fast!

Worse California course I ever played. All fairways had bare big bumpy spots (grass tufts and dirt). Not likely your ball will end up on a 2 inch tuft of grass. If not on the green or first cut you couldn't help but have a bad lie. Same problem tufts of grass & dirt. Many sand traps had standing water or mud. And we were playing in a NCGA tournament. 107 degree temp with no shade anywhere. Doesn't speak well for the NCGA to have tournaments at courses with conditions like this. Hole 18 was nicest hole (carts not allowed on this hole) it's too bad the other 17 holes were not in the same condition. Apparently course didn't look like this in months or years past. I rated as a 2 star only because of the greens. Live and learn.

Had a great time playing last Sunday. They let us play an hour earlier than our tee time which worked out really nice. My brother left his vest in the back of the cart after play. I contacted the Pro shop when I got home and they've found it. I will definitely play this challenging and excellent course again. The only issue we had was the 18th Par 5 hole being cart path only. Hopefully that will change soon. Kudos to the staff at Roddy Ranch!!

I have played this course a few times. Enjoyed the golf, however this course has one big problem that keeps me from going there alot more often. SNAKES!, I have never seen a course that has so many. They are everywhere, in the trees, fairways, on the greens and give it up if your ball strays a bit off the fairway. Other course nearby that don't have this problem.

This course is a bit of a drive from Walnut Creek or Concord, but well worth it. It's an interesting and challenging layout with lots of elevation changes. The greens are generally in good shape. We last played in late June, and while there were certainly some dry spots, the course superintendent seems to be dealing pretty well with the drought-related water limitations that are presently in effect. Last but not least, the greens fees are often remarkably low for a course of this quality. After making a reservation through the internet (see GolfNow or the course's own site), we paid about $26 per player, including a cart, to play on a Friday just before noon; I don't know of a better golf-related bargain anywhere in the Bay Area.

Played this course every friday and that will tell you how much i love to play at Roddy Ranch. Friendly staff, and looking forward the new restaurant and club house. the course is fantastic undulating fairways and fast greens, be careful on par 3 13th hole and long par 4 on 17th hole those are the many tough holes in this course. Reasonable green fees and very accessible to almost everywhere around the east bay. One thing I would like to request and this is not about the golf course, it's the turn coming on both ways on deer valley road, maybe you guys can put a big mirror on both ways so that the driver making a left or right turn to the golf course entrance can see the on coming traffic and to avoid accident, this is just a suggestion.

Just played at Roddy Ranch on Wednesday 4/22/15. The course is not in very good shape.. I'm not sure when they aerated their greens or what their water supply is like but the greens were very slow and they have a lot dead spots on the golf course. It wasn't worth the $45 but I'm sure i'll eventually play there again just not anytime soon. I wouldn't be likely to recommend it to others.
