Fun to revisit a familiar peak for a moment of solitude. The view is as fabulous as expected and i dont feel sorry about postholing uphill through the chest deep pow just to get to the boulders.

The occasional flat area is a good opportunity to pause and take in the beauty of the silent forest with deep snow. Now back to someone else's track with some cross country boarding... :-)

Went jogging, from Waddell Beach to near China Grade Rd and back, via the Skyline to the Sea trail. Used the store in the park twice and consumed three Odwalla smoothies, three oatmeal raisin Clif bars and a hummus wrap with lots of tomatoes, artichoke hearts and lettuce. Music in my head the entire way. Feet are tired but it was a sweet day. https://www.gaiagps.com/datasummary/track/7feb2102d07993a79d45df56dcc799fcaae8a92a/ (somewhat incomplete, I think it underreports distance etc.).

I sometimes whistle snippets of Beethoven's 3rd Symphony, "Eroica". This evening I listened live - it was awesome, really crisp and present compared the car stereo in a Subaru with snow tires. Sure there is other music but I can't think of anything better. It has density and depth, covering the range of emotions or just about any weather, color, light pattern or nature one can think of, from the cozy running trail in the warm afternoon light to the volcano in a thunderstorm.

Mount Shasta, California, 14179 ft. Drove North Saturday morning, started on skins towards Helen Lake. But couldn't camp there due to high winds and instead stayed at 8500 ft, from which I started at 330 am, leaving the snowboard behind (https://www.gaiagps.com/public/cBjI4dUYXl9ZN4iGMDblLVgQ/). Beautiful sunrise at the Thumb, and great views all along to the summit and back. Last couple pictures are from the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex, stopped there for some bird watching on the way home.

I think this was my first run this year. There are a lot more little trees and logs and whatnot in the forest than last year... But on a positive note, it was a beautiful day and some powder and even white trees. Thirsty for more. :-)
