A simple heat vent seen on the side of an industrial unit, just around the corner from where I live. The time is around 2.00 pm, so the sun is relatively low in the sky for the time of day because it's Wintertime in the UK. A clear sky has created a strong, crisp, graphic shadow for this cowling of this vent. I like the way the shadow has create a tiered effect. Somehow reminiscent of something Pablo Picasso might have painted during his Cubism period, where he attempted to represent three dimensional objects in a two dimensional plane.

This photograph is the second in a series where I've been experimenting with the double polarising technique. Semi opaque objects work best because the variation in density can give more interesting results. This odd looking item is in fact a seed that I found in some table decorations used at Christmas. I've no idea what it is in reality, but the center looks to me like some sort of alien with a double heart!
