Not from the area, menu looked good online so we made reservations. Service was slow, husband's small portions of sushi were brought out (without soy sauce or chopsticks) 10 minutes before my macadamia nut chicken. King crab was super small, not worth the money. My chicken was not bad, large portion. Raspberry Mojito had little to no rum in it. Creme brule was tasty. Large family next to us, kids were disruptive playing games, 10 year old daughter crawled around on the floor blindfolded, no employees asked them to stop. Food was just okay, service not great, would not return if coming thru Stamford again.

Good food and friendly service but a bit overpriced. Had the macadamia nut crusted chicken which was fantastic.

What a disappointment. My wife and I wanted to try this place out as we took a trip to Hawaii last year and loved every minute of it. We thought we would get a little taste of Hawaii right here in Stamford at Kona Grill - but we were wrong. We came here primarily to get sushi. When we walked in and saw the sushi chefs were not Japanese, and not even Asian for that matter, I started getting skeptical. Regardless, we still ordered sushi - which was a mistake. We ordered 3 rolls, including a typical spicy tuna roll. It's so unfortunate that the rice was vastly overcooked - a major no-no with sushi. The fish tasted and smelled fishy. We each had one piece of each roll and eventually had to tell the waitress that it was honestly probably the worst sushi we've ever had. I never send food back, especially sushi, but this was simply inedible. It seemed like the waitress was used to this as she quickly told us they would comp the sushi - not what I was looking for, I just wanted some decent food! After doing some research after dinner, I found that Kona Grill is simply a franchise. We won't be going back here. The best thing about this place was their enormous, beautiful fish tank. The decor was nice as well. It's too bad when you have inexperienced people making sushi.

I've been here more than a few times. Its fine for young singles, especially smokers. The food is good but the environment not so much. Its too loud. The whole place smells like cigarettes. The service is hit or miss.

My co workers and I met up here for my birthday and the service was horrible! Not every waiter but the 1 named Stephanie! She came to our table with thee worst attitude as of she didnt want to take our order...... There was about 9 of us so as a waitress I would have been thinking about a hige tip from a pretty big crowd. She brought us the wrong drinks then got upset when we asked her to bring the right ones. She ended up making 1 of my coworkers bank card decline because she kept ringing up the wrong items on it and having to refund the money at least 3 times before my friends card declined because the bank assumed fraudulent activity! Then after the 3rd refund when it declined she told my coworker that her card needed to be activated?! also screwed up 2 others debit cards by charging the wrong order to the wrong people. We were there for about an hour trying to pay for what we ordered correctly. Spoke with the manager Chris and he took full responsibility and made us feel welcomed to come back so we did a few weeks later and we had a different waitress..... There was about 3 of us this time and things were better but Stephanie made it her business to make us feel unwelcomed and extreemly uncomfortable. She would walk by us with nasty looks and I could hear her saying things about us to the other waitresses.... telling them that we are too broke to leave tip and just really making the experience bad. We have all decided that as long as she is employed we have no reason to go back to Kona. For an employee to make it her business to force a horrible experience on customers will never be ok in the customer service world. I wish Kona the best and I hope she finds happiness!

Please don't ever subject yourself to eating sushi here. From the over cooked mushy rice to the low grade fish they try to pass off as fresh I can't say yuck enough. Yuck yuck yuck!!!! The salmon sushi looked more like a melted gummy worm than fish. The drinks were weak and I hope they realize that grenadine does not assume the flavor of any red/pink drink. Grenadine does not = raspberry. The service was nice and that's the only reason this place didn't receive 1 star. Boring, blah, don't go unless you want some Midwestern corporate company's idea of what sushi is aka profit profit cheap cheap cheap.
