My daughter was given a turnip yesterday. I'm looking for grilling ideas for it. Pinterest hasn't been much help yet.

+Clint Cantwell has a great article on getting your grill ready for the season. I will be doing a deep clean on mine as soon as the weather gets warmer.

Useful info about planting tomatoes.
Tomatoes need calcium to achieve their full flavor potential, and calcium is often greatly lacking in our soils. 95% of a dry eggshell is calcium carbonate. When planting your tomato plants crush up (to powder) about 4 or 5 egg shells and put them in the bottom of the hole. Then plant your tomato on top. They'll provide calcium and prevent blossom end rot.

Here was our Valentine's dinner last night.
Our Valentine's dinner tonight was grilled pork tenderloin with a cranberry balsamic sauce, grill baked potatoes, and peas and carrots.
The wind was blowing about 20 mph and it was about 15 degrees out.
The pork was rubbed with smoked paprika, chili powder, course sea salt, and ground black pepper. Then direct grilled on each side 5 minutes each, then indirect grilled.
The sauce was good too, but unnecessary because the pork was so flavorful without it.
The potatoes were rubbed with oil and sprinkled with course sea salt.
For dessert, my wife made strawberry rhubarb crisp bars. It was all very yummy.

This is a great article about Pinterest tools. I knew about PinWoot, but not Postris.

Here is a great winter grilling article from last year. Thanks +Barbecues Galore and Woods Fireplaces for bringing it to our attention. +Scott Thomas is quoted a few times even.
Yet another article this year on winter grilling.  We've reached critical mass - this is now 'zeitgeisty'.

First attempt at smoked turkey legs. Also one of our new favorites, smoked mashed potatoes.
