Side loads  -

I loaded the new version of Google+ to my HTC EVO phone today.  I had to install Google Play service to get the update to run properly.  There is little to no information on how to do this.  I finally pushed the service to the phone from the Play App Store.

After getting the new version running on the EVO, I decided to sideload both the Play service and the new version of Google+ to both my Logitech Revue and first gen Sony (NSZ-GT1).  It ran on both.

My primary reason for loading it is to use it to view Picasa photos on the big screen.  It works, but not as well as in the Google Chrome (on GTV) version of Google+.  Scrolling does not seem to work in the News Feed (Home).

Google TV Discussion  -

Google Nose does not seem to work properly on my Logitech Revue!  Progress bar moves but no smell emanates from either my TV or the Revue.  Is this a #GoogleTV   or a   #logitechrevue  problem?  Is Nose working properly on the newer generation boxes?  Or is this just another case of a Google product that is not well supported on Google TV?

This is a great app if you have a #googletv  and a Mac.

This app became available for Google TV last week.  I tried it out.  But, it wasn't that useful, because on Google TV all the areas published as shares by the app (SDCard, Music, Photos, Downloads and Camera) exist only in Google TV's main memory - a fairly limited resource.

So, I wrote the developer with my concern.  He said he would add the ability to edit the shares in the next version.  Here we are less than a week later and it is done and published.

Hold down the "OK" key on the Google TV keyboard while configuring one of the existing shares and you can create a custom share.

I set one up for the 32 GB memory stick plugged into the USB port (found at /mnt/media/).  I started the share and seconds later the share appeared in the Mac's Finder.  I quickly copied a 367MB file from the MacMini (in about 30 seconds) to the Revue's USB stick.  GTVBox was able to find and play the movie flawlessly.

Thanks, Oleg!

The shuttle mock-up "Explorer" was moved from the barge that brought it into Clear Lake, down NASA Road One and to its new home at Space Center Houston.

1 star means "Hated it". I have rented cars over 200 times. This location gave the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Problems with rental from Saturday 9-14-2013 to Sunday 9-22-2013 1) Car rental took over an hour at mid day on Saturday. 2) When I reached the head of the waiting line, three counter personnel went on break rather than calling for the next person in line. 3) Counter person tried to up-sell on insurance and gas. Kept pushing these after being told no. 4) Rapid Rental Express Check-In completed before rental did nothing to speed the process. 5) Contract price did not match quoted price. This was caused by Dollar charging users $1.50/day to receive airline points. This was not made clear when giving the airline number or in the quote. It was only included in fine print of terms. 6) Correcting contract price to match quote price required totally redoing the contract. 7) Personnel told my wife waiting at the curb to "move your bags out of the way" after she had been waiting 30-45 minutes for the rental. 8) First car delivered did not have working 12V (cigarette lighter) outlets needed for cell phone chargers. 9) Second car delivered had dirty windshield inside. Cleaned it myself later in the week. 10) Car diagnostics kept telling me it was time to have the car serviced. 11) On Sunday, return line was outside of 40 car check in area by at least 20 cars. Check-in took about 30 minutes. Glad I arrived three hours before flight. 12) After I had unloaded my bags to the curb and waited 20-30 minutes to check-in, the check-in personnel expected me to move the car from the back of the check-in area to the front, leaving my bags. Apparently, Dollar employees think their customers should do their work. Don't let a low price lead you to rent from this Dollar location.
