Important information about Communities & Pages

A business Page can create a Community or be made a moderator and  owner. Linking a Community to a Page helps in the visibility of the Community as it'll be displayed in the profile of the Page.

The +1's that are displayed on the Page's profile, under the profile picture come now from three possible places:
- Someone has given the Page a +1 under the profile pic
- The amount of people who follow the Page
- The amount of people who are members to the Community

This +1 figure is not quite correct, it seems, as there are people who belong to the Community, follow the Page and perhaps give a +1 to the Page...  They are all counted in the total of +1's.

A Page with several managers

- If a page has several managers and is made a moderator in a Community, all the managers can post and comment as the Page when signed in as the Page.

- If the Page is promoted to owner, all the Page managers have the same rights as the owner. They can even delete the Community.

A Community can have multiple owners.

From Googler +Brian Glick :

In larger communities, people and Pages need to be moderators for at least 2 weeks before they can be promoted to owner. We do this to help prevent communities from being suddenly taken over by someone else if an owner's account is compromised.

- Is the limit here the 500 members, I wonder?  After hitting 500 you cannot change the Community name anymore...

You can have as many pages in a community as you want. Think of them like normal "people" when it comes to a community.

Can You Optimize for Navigational Queries?

You can optimize for informational queries, and you can optimize for transactional queries, but can you optimize for navigational queries?

A Google patent granted last week describes the kinds of things that Google might look for to determine if a query is navigational, and a page is a navigational resource.  It might associate the two based upon query sessions, page selections during those sessions, characteristics of URLs that show up for those queries and possibly get selected for them, and whether or not those pages tend to get linked to within pages within results found during those search sessions.

How to be found for navigational results?  What would you do?

Lenovo launches IdeaTab transforming tablet for only $400
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 Jeffrey Van Camp
Lenovo has begun selling the Transformer-like IdeaTab S2110 for $400, which has its own fancy keyboard dock and competitive specs. Our hands-on impressions.
Lenovo has beaten its tablet competitors on price, just a little. Originally shown at CES back in January, the Lenovo IdeaTab S2110 is now available to buy online for a quite reasonable price. Though it appears that the standard retail price will be $450, currently you can buy the IdeaTab for $343.20, which is not a bad deal for an Android 4.0 tablet, especially when you add in the optional keyboard dock (works like Asus Transformer) for only $56 more. For those who are mathletically challenged, that’s roughly $400 for the whole package. Asus charges $150 for its keyboard alone and most of its Transformer tablets start at $400-$500.
