Christa Glennie Seychew is dedicated to Western New York's thriving dining scene and agricultural bounty.
I am motivated by Western New York’s budding appreciation for local foods and I work on a variety of projects focused on nurturing, rebuilding, and celebrating our region's agricultural bounty and unique, ethnically-influenced culinary traditions and foodways.
I earn a living as the Food and Online Editor for Buffalo Spree magazine and as a freelance food writer. In 2009/2010 I wrote pieces for over a dozen publications and books, and had a regular column in two regional periodicals. In late 2011 I signed on with Buffalo Spree, and now only write the occasional freelance piece. In 2011 I authored "Nickel City Chef: Buffalo's Finest chefs & Ingredients," which was inspired by an event series I run. It features farm and chef profiles in addition to recipes. In 2012 I've taken on a postion with Zagat, in addition to my work at Spree.
I am also the owner of Feed Your Soul, a culinary event production company with a focus on WNY. We produce Nickel City Chef, Nickel City Firing Line, Nickel City Cake Challenge, farm tours, and about three dozen private events each year.
In the last few years, one of the things I've learned to truly enjoy is public speaking. Sharing the glory of our region's agricultural abilities, talented food artisans, local food movement, evolving dining scene, and skilled chefs is one of the most rewarding aspects of my position.
