Hi, Im new here, and have one question. Do you think that fate can somehow emulate final fantasy? For now, Im wondering mainly about FFX equip system. You know, in FFX has every weapon or armor, any number of slots form 1 to 4, and in these slots, can be some enhancements. So, its nothing like in D&D where every weapon has damage value, attack bonus etc. So, I was wondering if there (in fate) can be this system, where every weapon or armor can have number of slots, where you can put some aspects, similar to these in FFX. Im asking guys, who have played FFX, so they will know what I mean.

- Some possible examples:
Natural Fighter: Your training in the Blitzball arena carries over to other activities. You may sub Athletics for Fighting when you Attack in melee combat.
Striker: You are a menace with a blitzball. Sub Athletics for Shoot when attacking with a blitzball.
Warrior Monk: Your exceptional strength makes you a terror in battle. Add +3 shifts on a successful attack in melee combat.Nov 26, 2013
- As for weapons, just pop on what you like. Note that weapon/armor rating from the Extras chapter in Fate Core should be in effect here:
Katana: Fearsome blade of the warrior born. Piercing: ignore up to Armor:3 when applying stress on a successful melee attack.Nov 27, 2013
- Thanks for your posts Expert :D Did you run FFX campaign in Fate?Nov 27, 2013
- Nope! I've just played a lot of FFX. :-D
Mug: You may Attack with Burglary in melee combat. With a success you successfully steal an item: you may apply additional shifts as physical stress.Nov 27, 2013
- edit: ok, same assaid, comments updated after writing xD
If you totally want that in your game (again i would focus on the characters, but to be helpful i'll bite my tong from now on) i would do it via stunts. An extra would be for a magic system, a pet or a mecha i think it's too much for weapons, just give two extra stunt slots for weapon and armor.
For the weapon make a stunt which gives +1/+2 (i would go with +1 if you will allow to stack bonuses) on the circumstances fitting what the weapon has embedded, or enables to do special things. Same for the armor.
Example: Butter knife 3-slotted; water-element (+1vs fire), armor piercing (+1vs armored) and auto-haste (act first on combat).Nov 27, 2013
- Well, this thread inspired me. Here's my build of Rikku in FFX using Fate Core:
