Soul has been reinvented by a raft of 21st century faces. Vintage Trouble are the latest, celebrating America's rich musical history from the roots of blues, through 50s/60s rock'n'roll, soul and R&B. 1 Hopeful Road retains their debut's smooth, retro heart. These songs ooze passionate vim and vigour, whether they be uptempo hip-shakers or heart-aching ballads.

You want the real vintage rock'n'soul deal? Look this way, and then make sure you catch the live.

It's not often that the true shitkicking rock'n'roll bands come along. This year we've been blessed with a holy trinity in H.E.A.T., We Are Harlot and the final piece, Biters. Looking like Stiv Bators and sounding like an unholy mixture of Cheap Trick, Thin Lizzy and Kiss, Restless Hearts sets the tone with a oversimplifying sugared sneer of a riff.

Electric Blood is street smart and complicated in its simplicity. It takes an enormous amount of work to create a piece of music this simple but so effective and Biters deserve massive credit for the brilliance that is their second album. We'll be keeping our eye on them for sure.

Quite simply, the best Paradise Lost album in years. One that combines the intensity of Shades Of God with the untamed blare of Gothic and the suppleness of Draconian Times. These are high-grade compositions, well served by producer Gomez's heavy hand.

The Plague Within serves as a reminder that not only did Pardise Lost create the blueprint for gothic metal, but they still do it brilliantly.

Right To Rise is Wilson's growing up period after Full Blast Fuckery's teenage party attitude. It doesn't however lose any of it's heft. Filled with power riffs it's Rage Against The Machine meets Airbourne. Party soundtrack with a thumping backing.

Lean and perfectly pitched, Wilson have come of age with Right To Rise. The puerility of FBF might've gone but the ferocity remains. Inspired by the decline of Detroit it salutes the city's defiant spirit and is a fantastic album to boot.

Halestorm have an unbelievable live following and Into The Wild Life perfectly captures this intensity in album form. Raucous hard rock follows, with catchy melodies and backed by Lzzy Hale's astonishing voice that matches with the likes of Stevie Nicks in her prime. The Halestorm has arrived, and it's here to stay.

You can check out the +TeamRock interview on their channel.

With Holding All The Roses Blackberry Smoke have managed to keep all that's brilliant about their previous work and expand on it further. We were lucky enough to speak to the guys back in 2014 and even recorded a version of 'Living In The Song' during their soundcheck. Holding All The Roses is the harbinger of great things to come from the BS guys, and we're looking forward to it!
