After all that chatter this month about windows, now's a good time to pop along to our free cost estimator and have a play around to work out what it might cost you to replace or renovate your windows this spring. The estimates that are used in this calculator are provided by our tradies, but remember it is an estimator so always get a written quote before agreeing to any work. http://ow.ly/OkIS30clu38

Should I Pick a Window Frame Type Based on My Location or Property Appearance?

The answer is... "it depends". Find a more comprehensive answer to this dilemma and more when reading all about choosing window types here http://ow.ly/QgRb30cltP9

Just like roofing materials and building cladding, choosing the joinery type for your home depends on where it is located and what it looks like. For instance, wooden windows require more maintenance than their metal counterparts. http://ow.ly/4KGN30cltLM

If you want to reduce condensation and improve warmth this winter, look for Window Insulator Kits at your home hardware store. They're easy and economical to use and make a huge difference. Great to use while you save up to get double glazing without spending a fortune on heating that goes straight out the window.

Another top tip: Check around your window frames for gaps and get them filled - the heat will go out as fast as the cold will come in.

Wooden Windows.... While not everyone loves them they seemed a great excuse for posting this photo. What's not to love about our native trees and a matching paint job?

They also reduce energy costs by being thermally efficient as a natural insulator, have natural beauty with timeless character for both modern and historic homes.

Cat owners everywhere are building 'catios' in their backyard. A catio is an outdoor cat enclosure or “cat patio”.

What do you think? Is this the purrfect solution to solve the indoor/outdoor dilemma and keep your cat safe, healthy and happy or have "crazy cat people" finally lost it?
