If you're planning a trip down to the Keys, why not script in a stop at Alabama Jacks in Key Largo - lunch and a chance to stretch your legs. Right on the water, open air seating with a great breeze keeps things fun and refreshing. Even on a very busy Saturday lunch hour stop the wait and grill staff were hoppin' and everyone was getting served in reasonable time. Conch chowder was above average, and all the shrimp were crisp and fresh tasting. Check for the fish of the day and enjoy it as a salad or sandwich (ask, they'll make it for you). There's even hot dogs and hamburgers for the little ones who might not be big seafood fans yet. Parking may be a bit tight, but there's always someone pulling out soon. Be sure to drive slowly and watch out for people and cars entering the road.

Food was ineatable, grease, cold, the conch fritters which they are suppose to be famous for .... I had to ask the waitres what they were ??? "a sweet greasy dough" the fish was half frozen, and the service awful. it took one hour to get our $35.00 discussing plate, and they charged $4.00 for a watery ice tea and on top of that $1.50 for getting the tea from the bar. Lol The waitres came to our table and she saw we didn't touch our food she was afraid to ask us and she brought us the bill. As I was leaving I took a pick inside the kitchen and ..... please don't eat there!!!!!!!

The ambiance is very romantic! Plus i feel the toll booth personnel should get a discount here because they sit lonely in that only remaining tollbooth [thank God] between keys and south Florida!

Great, scenic location on the water with good food. I've eaten there several times over many years and the food is usually decent to excellent, but they do have an off day once in a while. I was mostly motivated to post a review because in reading some of the other reviews, it appears that some people are confusing conch fritters with fried conch. Conch fritters (of which Alabama Jacks serves a very solid version of IMHO) are basically hush puppies with small bits of conch in them. In other words, they're SUPPOSED to be mostly dough, people! Fried conch (which Alabama Jacks doesn't have - at least not on the usual menu) is tenderized pieces of conch that's lightly breaded and fried (kind of like really big fried clams), so it should be much more meat than breading. Conch fritters and fried conch are about as similar as shrimp toast and fried shrimp. If you know what you're ordering, there's less chance you'll be disappointed.

Fun little stop on the water to enjoy old Florida. The food is decent but its the atmosphere that you go for. Instant relaxation.

What's not to love about this place? Except when the mosquitoes get outta hand... Other than that, great food, drinks, scenery and live music (and I'm not just saying that because my dad is the guitar player in the house band:) Tell em Large Marge sent ya!
