Great, scenic location on the water with good food. I've eaten there several times over many years and the food is usually decent to excellent, but they do have an off day once in a while. I was mostly motivated to post a review because in reading some of the other reviews, it appears that some people are confusing conch fritters with fried conch. Conch fritters (of which Alabama Jacks serves a very solid version of IMHO) are basically hush puppies with small bits of conch in them. In other words, they're SUPPOSED to be mostly dough, people! Fried conch (which Alabama Jacks doesn't have - at least not on the usual menu) is tenderized pieces of conch that's lightly breaded and fried (kind of like really big fried clams), so it should be much more meat than breading. Conch fritters and fried conch are about as similar as shrimp toast and fried shrimp. If you know what you're ordering, there's less chance you'll be disappointed.

The food was decent. Nice atmosphere. It gets very crowded though. Also be aware that this is a robbery trap. We had everything in our car stolen during lunch. There are signs all around the restaurant warning you of this. We quickly discovered from "Find My Mac" that the thieves were in Miami and we found a laptop being sold on craigslist a few days later. Be warned! Park close or don't park at all if you have any valuables in your car.

I'm a local. About 30 minutes away. If you want a beer on the way to the Keys this is the place for you. Don't bother ordering the food. Fish is dry (probably from the freezer) and all the fried food is bland and over done. The wait was 1 hour this time but a beer will take care of that. For a local on the water place I much prefer Black Point Marina. They also have live music, great view and most importantly Great Fresh Food! I also like how they jack up their review by anonymous Google User. See reviews below.

Nice spot on the river. Conch fritters were more fried breading than conch, but some people may prefer that

A true legend of the Keys! Fantastic food, great live music and amazing vibe. A must visit before you die experience. I would love to just eat, drink, party, pass out and repeat there for a week straight! Very cool place indeed.

We always stop on our annual trip to The Keys. It is definitely "picturesque" but has become quite chi chi in the past couple of decades. I think I liked it better when it was full of the colorful local clientele. The food is so so but edible. If nothing else you'll see lots of High End motor vehicles of both the two wheel and four wheel variety.

This place was recommended for the conch fritters...what a disappointment...the fritters were mostly dough with very little conch...the grilled mahi mahi was definitely not fresh and tasted like something I would have eaten at my high school cafeteria...not worth the money...

We hit AJ's every time we enter of leave the keys. Great drinks, decent food and killer ambiance.
