Oh my gosh! I remember the Mandrell sisters! Ha ha!

Isn't it wonderful finding old treasures like that? They really take us back in time.

Now of course no one writes out their recipes anymore.

I have quite a few large photo albums where I've saved many family recipes but I find I use them less and less. Instead I just go to my Pinterest Board and find the recipes I'm looking for there. It is sad really. I think I need to make my Grandma's shortbread for Christmas. Carrying on traditions creates continuity in our lives and keeps memories alive.

That was hilarious!

I'm a bit of a neat freak. Looking at your original wardrobe was a bit of a nightmare for me. I'd be at a total loss if I had to get dressed from that.

Both my husband and I are a bit OCD when it comes to organization in our spaces.

This gave me a good laugh this morning. I'm all over the chocolate part!

I love it when people collect items that have cherished memories attached. It's like living in a scrapbook.

Oooh those appliqués are fun! Too much hand stitching for me. I'd go nuts. I prefer the iron on ones.

I often find things that are obviously donated by the same person and I wonder what happened to that person.

Another interesting thing to study would be the difference in donations depending on the store location.

I need you at my place to figure out how to fix my bobbin spooler. I HATE doing that by hand since it broke on my machine.

I don't often talk to people when I'm thrifting because I'm so "in the zone" but I agree there are lots of stories there to be told and lots of very unique people.

I always wondered if there is a difference in the quality of thread. I've collected some over the years as well. I need to figure out a better system for storing them though since most of them have unravelled in the large jar I'm holding them in.

I think it is great that you have something to occupy your time and take your mind off of things. It can't be easy.

I'm so happy to hear you've found a nice place for your Mom. I'm sure that eases your mind.

Some of the places up here in Canada aren't so great.

I really need to buy a new sewing machine or get mine fixed somewhere. The bobbin threader doesn't work and I hate doing that by hand.

Ya huh! Thrifting is my drug! Ha ha!

I agree. It can be a bit meditative when I'm in the "zone" while thrifting. I forget about other things and just focus on the moment. Saying things like, "ugly, ugly, ugly, WTF? butt ugly, nope, ugh, ick, ugly" in my head as I go through the racks upon racks looking for that one special piece that'll make my heart happy.

I still get a bit of a rush when I find that special piece.

Now that I'm a reseller I'm even more dedicated to the cause.

I find myself jonesing for a good thrift if I haven't gone in over two weeks now.

My husband is home for a visit from Hong Kong so I haven't gone recently but tomorrow I'll be heading out when we go to Niagara on the Lake to check out some smaller stores when we're out that way.

It's very hot here too right now. Just another reason to head indoors and thrift I say!
