Interesting article, I'm skeptical about donating to any org where people take home 200k$/year but I'm still okay with buying Wikipedia wear (and when people ask if I work for Wikipedia I ask them if they work for Nike). WMF doesn't accept BTC. But BitPay has set up a payment processor just for WMF that will send $$ to WMF.

http://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/reauthorization/media/PLAW-112publ95[1].pdf

Page 74:

"An air carrier providing air transportation shall permit a passenger to carry a violin, guitar, or other musical instrument in the aircraft cabin, without charging the passenger a fee in addition to any standard fee that carrier may require for comparable carry-on baggage, if

(A) the instrument can be stowed safely in a suitable baggage compartment in the aircraft cabin or under a passenger seat, in accordance with the requirements for carriage of carry-on baggage or cargo established by the Administrator; and

(B) there is space for such stowage at the time the passenger boards the aircraft."

I don't even know what to say about this law...

Rather blatant and slightly hilarious example of political biases on both sides:

Gee, I wonder what will happen when the Republicans take power again...

What the heck is up with this website? It's supposed to be a project of the Colorado state government, and yet it feels like some kind of spoof website portraying the argument that having someone else paying your medical expenses promotes personal irresponsibility ... I'm confuzzled.
Thanks to Obamacare, Colorado has a new online insurance marketplace called "Connect for Health Colorado." This new marketplace is where you can easily compare health insurance plans, find financial assistance that could help you purchase coverage, and get the plan that's right for you.

Even worse these stupid ads also obscure the generational theft that Obamacare depends on, poor young healthy people are needed to subsidize the older sicker people.

Or that they should be allowed to vote but the resulting government only inflicted upon themselves.

One thing I realized about all those behavioral economics experiments where they make people play out altruism vs. defection style games like Ultimatum and Prisoner's Dilemma with real money: why doesn't anyone feel altruism for the experimenters and try to reduce the amount of money that would need to be paid out to the players?

Excellent mathematical proof seen on Reddit:

Theorem: Every horse is the same color. Proof by induction on the # of horses.

Base case: 1 horse is the same color as itself.

Induction case: assume every group of N horses is the same color. Consider a group of N + 1 horses. You can look at it like a group of N horses, and one other horse. So all of the horses in the smaller group is the same color (by our assumption). Now take one of those horses out, and put the final horse in. Again, all of the horses are the same color, and so therefore all of the horses in the N+1 group are the same color.

(h1 h2 h3 ... hn) hn+1 = h1 (h2 h3 ... hn hn+1)

Therefore by induction, all horses are the same color.

This makes the incorrect assumption that there is an overlap between h1...hn and h2...hn+1, which is not the case for n=1.

Turns out that the proof that there must be a prime number between n and 2n is actually quite understandable:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Proof_of_Bertrand%27s_postulate
The main steps of the proof are as follows. First, one shows that every prime power factor p^r that enters into the prime decomposition of the central binomial coefficient \tbinom{2n}{n}:=\frac{(2n) is at most 2n . In particular, every prime larger than \sqrt{2n} can enter at most once into this ...

Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that their day-to-day happiness is a bit too proportional to the derivative of the Bitcoin price?
