One thing I realized about all those behavioral economics experiments where they make people play out altruism vs. defection style games like Ultimatum and Prisoner's Dilemma with real money: why doesn't anyone feel altruism for the experimenters and try to reduce the amount of money that would need to be paid out to the players?[1].pdf

Page 74:

"An air carrier providing air transportation shall permit a passenger to carry a violin, guitar, or other musical instrument in the aircraft cabin, without charging the passenger a fee in addition to any standard fee that carrier may require for comparable carry-on baggage, if

(A) the instrument can be stowed safely in a suitable baggage compartment in the aircraft cabin or under a passenger seat, in accordance with the requirements for carriage of carry-on baggage or cargo established by the Administrator; and

(B) there is space for such stowage at the time the passenger boards the aircraft."

I don't even know what to say about this law...

Excellent mathematical proof seen on Reddit:

Theorem: Every horse is the same color. Proof by induction on the # of horses.

Base case: 1 horse is the same color as itself.

Induction case: assume every group of N horses is the same color. Consider a group of N + 1 horses. You can look at it like a group of N horses, and one other horse. So all of the horses in the smaller group is the same color (by our assumption). Now take one of those horses out, and put the final horse in. Again, all of the horses are the same color, and so therefore all of the horses in the N+1 group are the same color.

(h1 h2 h3 ... hn) hn+1 = h1 (h2 h3 ... hn hn+1)

Therefore by induction, all horses are the same color.

Rather blatant and slightly hilarious example of political biases on both sides:

Gee, I wonder what will happen when the Republicans take power again...

What the heck is up with this website? It's supposed to be a project of the Colorado state government, and yet it feels like some kind of spoof website portraying the argument that having someone else paying your medical expenses promotes personal irresponsibility ... I'm confuzzled.
