Improv Quilts 2018, no. 4 Preparations
I generally need a day or two to get all the parts and pieces of my improv quilts assembled and ready for the longarm sewing.  Yesterday was that day. A few years ago I walked into a neighborhood Goodwill store & spotted about 10 cotton size 3XL men's tropi...

Improv Quilts 2018, no. 3
I did all the preparation for this quilt as Hurricane Harvey was striking Houston.  I had to put it aside for paid commission projects.  It's been waiting patiently.  Yesterday I was able to get it to the binding stage.  The backing is sewn predominantly fr...

Improv Quilts 2018, no. 2
Yesterday I hit a roadblock with my current commission. I couldn't get the family photos printed. The situation has been solved but it will take a few days for the fabric printed pictures to return to me. In the meantime, I thought I'd take a little time...

Lexis Memorial Quilt
My daughter-in-law's best friend's sister was killed in an airplane accident this summer in Hawaii.  I didn't know her but I know her sister.  It's been a hard loss for the family so when Michelle asked me to sew a quilt from her sister's clothes for her mo...

Improv Quilt 2018
A few days ago I found some scrap bits I had sewn together some time in the past.  I cleared what was on my studio table into the pile of scraps and came up with some long improv sections.  This is a great style for scrap busting and the size (43 x 58) work...

Thrifting Scores and Darkest Hour
I promised myself I would finish 2017 a pant size smaller.  Over the past few years I've inched up a size or two.  I know now that I have really do have to be vigilant.  I've returned to more of a vegetable based food diet and not much meat at all.  I've ne...

Sick!
I'm not sure what I caught but it's been energy draining.  So far I've handled it with NyQuil products and a lot of sleep.  It's a little different being sick when you live alone.  There's no one to fetch anything for you.  I think I am over the worst of it...

MDUMC Angel Advent Tree
Each Advent season my church decorates the sanctuary, narthax and friendship court beautifully. My favorite decoration is a towering tree adorned with individual needlepoint angels. At the base of the tree are the familiar characters of the Nativity scene. ...
