Donna B. of "Trauma Flowers" shared a post:
Kathy Brous, a professional writer and survivor of trauma, has written a book on it. Over several years we spoke about my own treatment and progress on the journey of healing and recovery. It's not a straight line, rather, bumpy with pits of darkness. I think the greatest joy in healing is to know you are not alone! That there is a name(s) for what happened to you. That parents really do their best, sometimes that is not very good, and it causes trauma called complex PTSD. It's a pain in the a** to heal and recover, but possible! I am happy for Kathy's journey. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1976120128 #AttachmentDisorderHealing #SilentEpidemicofAttachmentDisorder #TraumaInformed #DevelopmentalTrauma #AdultAttachmentInterview #AAI #AttachmentTheory #ACEStudy #ChildhoodTrauma #EmotionalGrowth #MentalHealth #NonfictionPsychology #ProfessionalTreatment #Recovery #TraumaHealing

On Feb. 28, I published a hair-raising book on my first six years facing crushing infant trauma, "Don’t Try This Alone: The Silent Epidemic of Attachment Disorder," https://www.amazon.com/dp/1976120128.
On April 11? I was singing for joy in public! That’s me at left; here's my first MUSIC VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpx6j89aPWw
Visiting Mazatlan, Mexico, I heard Jose the Tenor singing in the Plaza Machado. He was so musical, I just had to join him in a spontaneous riff on Verdi’s "Rigoletto." I couldn’t help singing–and then we couldn’t help dancing.
Dr. Peter A Levine, PhD is right: if we face the trauma and walk through the pain, we can find such relief that it feels like an experience of God.
It turned out that the healing power of music is strong for trauma. Music isn't all it takes; we have to face the pain. But music helped me all my life!

Please, friends: DON'T Try Trauma Release Alone!
"Dan" just wrote on my website that he's doing Somatic Experiencing (SE) trauma release as I did in my book "Don't Try This Alone: The Silent Epidemic of Attachment Disorder" at https://www.amazon.com/dp/1976120128
But: he's doing it alone. Oh, no!
Now Dan's having horrible scary chest and back pain, and he wants to know why?
" 'Alone' magnifies the pain," I wrote back, "Doing it alone is WHY you are having such huge pain.
"Please stop! Never do it alone! You are re-traumatizing yourself and it's quite harmful. We don't do heart surgery on ourselves alone. I never did SE alone. I always did it with my doctor, as you read in my book. That is why I could walk through the pain--so now I don't have it."

And I feel so great with furry mammal people who look me in the eye and enjoy attaching! Hooray, I'm not so frozen anymore (after all that trauma release work). Now I can feel what's good for me and I'm a mammal, so now I can choose mammalian attachment. My book about mammals and attachment is here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1976120128 #AttachmentDisorderHealing #SilentEpidemicofAttachmentDisorder #TraumaInformed #DevelopmentalTrauma #AdultAttachmentInterview #AAI #AttachmentTheory #ACEStudy #ChildhoodTrauma #EmotionalGrowth #MentalHealth #NonfictionPsychology #ProfessionalTreatment #Recovery #TraumaHealing

I feel so bad around "iFamily" people. It's like trying look a reptile in the eye; they can't attach. It's not their fault; they never developed enough of a mammalian brain when they were children, because their parents couldn't attach... But it still doesn't feel good being with reptiles... http://www.acesconnection.com/blog/the-ifamily-and-its-link-to-rising-teen-suicides-causes-and-solutions

"License to Parent," a new film by George Siegal, is coming soon. In a May 6 post "We Have a Parenting Problem," he says: "parenting is the most important job in the world" but "many parents have no idea what they're doing."
He's right, but we need even more. "Poor parenting" gets baked into parents' brains over generations. "Parenting well does not come naturally. What comes naturally is <parenting the way we were parented>," Allan Schore says. Almost all parenting that hurts kids goes back 3, 4, 10 or more generations. Attachment from conception to age 5 created that parent's brain when <they> were a child. If had their own traumatic childhood, that's the only parenting "software" they got. So it's the physically the only "software" they have to give: https://attachmentdisorderhealing.com/parenting/
I take it back to my great-grandmother in Chapter 17 of my new book: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1976120128
What was damaged by an attachment relationship, can only be healed by an attachment relationship. Parents will keep traumatizing children unless and until they receive major healing to rewire their own emotionally-hurt brain circuits.

The iFamily and its Link to Rising Teen Suicides
What is an iFamily? by Scott Sells, PhD, LMFT
Parents and kids are texting each other instead of talking over dinner. Pictures on walls, board games, and family night are replaced by a flat screen TV in every room, computer games, and social networking. Family members exhibit “nature-deficit disorder.” They spend hours online and indoors rather than hiking, swimming, or other outdoor activities.
Family members go to technology when they feel negative feelings instead of talking to one another. Family members are constantly checking their social accounts instead of talking with one another. http://www.acesconnection.com/blog/the-ifamily-and-its-link-to-rising-teen-suicides-causes-and-solutions

Can We Heal Child Trauma? Readers Want to Know!
Here's my exchange with Juliet, one of my readers, today:
Dear Juliet,
My book “Don’t Try This Alone: The Silent Epidemic of Attachment Disorder" details my years of painful healing work, and today I feel wonderful. Healing childhood trauma is scary, takes many years, and no shortcuts, but Yes! Healing happens! No, we never heal 100%, it's a lifetime commitment, I still work on it almost every day. Please check out what I did in the book, if your path to date hasn't helped you.I used to feel lousy 90% of the time and good 10% of the time-- and now it's the reverse!!
Juliet wrote: Do you feel that the work you have done has healed your attachment disorder? or has it improved things? Do we ever fully heal? I have been trying for years!
