Hickory-smoked ribs, sandwiches & vegeterian options are the ticket at this brick-walled BBQ joint.- Google
People talk about jumbo chicken wings, mac & cheese, grilled chicken breast, corn on the cob and cheese onion rings

I came into Robinsons one day and had forgotten my wallet the restaurant was closing and I didnt know that I had forgottoen my wallet until after I made my order. The staff was nice enough to give me a free meal on the deal that I'd come back and pay for it. Obviously I did the food was great and Ive been returning ever since.

I was really hopeful about this rib joint as so many have been disappointments in Chicago. Well, the good news first: Pretty good side dishes! I was homesick for my Mom's soul food and this will satisfy me until I see her in a couple of months. The beans were a perfect consistency, not too thick and just the right amount of bbq and sweet flavor. The mac-n-cheese was better than any macaroni and cheese dish that I have had--except my Mom's. The cole slaw was okay--would like to have seen more carrots. Now for the bad news: I agree with some of the other negative reviews regarding the "Q". They missed the mark on the sauce! It's like eating Heinz catsup only not as good! The meat would probably be pretty good if you order it plain or what they call smokehouse and then add your own sauce. Needless to say, I am a little disappointed because I drove from the South Loop to this location at 9:00 at night. What really topped this was my spill right outside the door! The steps and sidewalk should have been salted a little more. In summary, the staff was friendly and even recommended delivery to my neighborhood next time. Pick up some sides before you either make your own "Q" or stop off at Wildfire for their St. Louis Ribs...they are off the chain!

unfortunately, robinson's is coasting (almost coming to a grinding halt) on past fame and reviews. incompetence is rampant in the kitchen, as ribs were sent out poorly cook, burnt, and lacking any general flavor. sides were uninspiring (a globby mac 'n cheese.) the decor reminds one of a sad, lonely cafeteria. depressing venue and depressing food.

robinson's always has great ribs and their food is always solid. we get them "to-go" because the atmosphere isn't much. still, those ribs are lip-smackingly delicious and always bring us back for more -- they're a chicago tradition that we're glad we're a part of.
