Thanksgiving has it's own unique meaning and memories for all of us.

For some, it is the way a house smells or the taste of their grandmother's famous pie. The day is filled with traditions and memories for families across our great country.

However, outside our happy homes each year, there are those less fortunate.

Today we worked in partnership with Menifee Sun City Concern, taking full thanksgiving meals, prepared by Boston Billie`s restaurant, to seniors who are alone in this special date. The food used to prepare the meals was purchased with generous donations from the community. We thank everyone that helped make this possible.

Please take a moment this holiday season and support this worthy cause.

May God bless you and your families and keep them safe this holiday season.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Fall is upon us and it is time for us all to gather with our family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving and kick off the holiday season. Many of us are continuing long-standing family traditions, while others are starting new traditions of their own. As we spend quality time with our loved ones, we are reminded of how much we have to be thankful for this season.

In 1621, the Pilgrims and the Native Americans came together to celebrate a plentiful harvest. Little did they know that in 2014, our country would still be celebrating the tradition they started nearly 400 years ago.

Although much has changed in the world and in our nation since the First Thanksgiving at the Plymouth Colony, we still harken back to their spirit of generosity and gratitude for all that America has to offer. As we celebrate Thanksgiving this year, let us all be mindful of the sacrifices that our ancestors made so long ago, so that we can call this land our home today.

One of my favorite ways to show my gratitude for the USA during the holidays is to give back to the community that has supported me through so much. From serving our neighbors at the local food bank, to putting together care packages for the troops, we should all do our part to spread the joy of the holidays. Even a small gesture can make a big difference.

Thanksgiving is also the perfect time to express our deepest gratitude to the members of our Armed Forces and their families. Many of our servicemembers cannot enjoy the holidays with their families because they are deployed overseas, fighting for our freedoms. We salute their service and sacrifice, and send our thoughts to them this Thanksgiving.

I hope that wherever the holidays take you, that your travels are safe and that you enjoy spending time with your family and friends. From my family to yours, have a blessed Thanksgiving.

Today my kids and me toured the California Highway Patrol facility in Temecula. We had the opportunity to see how their K9`s find drugs and all the various equipment and people who make it all work and keep us safe. We appreciate your dedication and hard work!

As you may have heard, the University of California’s Board of Regents has approved a tuition hike of as much as 5 percent annually over the next five years. I strongly disagree with their decision and will continue fighting to ensure that our schools receive the funding they need so every student can go to college, graduate on-time, and achieve their dreams.
