We're thrilled to announce our launch of +Snippets today! My team and I are very excited that, for the first time, web page authors can use one markup style to influence how their page appears in search (on Google, Yahoo, and Bing) and also control how their page appears in the Google+ stream.
Now as a user, you can use the +1 button to reach your friends when they search ("Daniel +1'd this" appearing under search results), when they browse the web ("Daniel +1'd this" appearing in +1 button annotations), and when they view their Google+ stream.
Please let me know how it works for you.

Please make it so that we can remove images from posts via the "edit" button, as currently once a post is live you have no means to remove images you don't want without deleting the entire post or re-attaching the link. This introduces the ability for people to use the new schema as a marketing tool if people aren't aware while posting. For example, see my re-share of a Wired post that auto-pulled a "subscribe now" image: https://plus.google.com/105773781211679853353/posts/dUNHo1viWCcAug 29, 2011
+Daniel Dulitz I'd love it if highlighted text would be detected and replace the site's default description for that page [or in addition to] so that a quote from the page would be visible in the post without manually copying and pasting. That would be a killer feature of the +1 button over othersAug 31, 2011
That's great news. I'm already implemented this and one thing I've noticed is that you need to use an image with aspect ratio close to 1:1 or else it won't show on the +1 shareSep 21, 2011
I am still having issues with the Validation on this!Oct 20, 2011
I believe there is a bug with the G+ share button when used with schema.org markup.
The Structured Data Testing Tool from Webmaster tools reports an image source, correctly, as:
http://rlv.zcache.com/piebald_pony_business_cards_template-r8f3092e54969431ca52255973750db50_i579t_8byvr_400.png?t_text0_txt=textforp0&t_text1_txt=Pony%20Petting%20Inc.
However the Google Plus share button ignores the query parameters when it parses the itemprop image source. As a result it displays the wrong image (i.e. one unmodified by the passed parameters) when sharing.Sep 5, 2014
Thanks +Mark Highton Ridley. I'm no longer at Google... perhaps +Yonatan Zunger can help direct this report to the right person?Sep 8, 2014
