ST. PATRICK'S DAY LUNCHEON AT MISSION..The managers volunteered their time to set up the dining room and serve residents for a St. Patrick's Day luncheon. Our harpist came in and soothed everyone with Celtic-inspired melodies. On top of the meal, we served wine, apple cider, green lemonade, and chocolate cake! Everybody had a blast.

MARDI GRAS AT MISSION!!! Last week we celebrated Mardi Gras! We started off by learning about Mardi Gras and New Orleans. Did you know that if you ride a float without a mask in New Orleans, you break the law?

We whipped up beer, pretzels, and the Mardi Gras staple, King Cake! We baked the 3 King Cakes in the Activity room, and the aroma spread through the hallway. And true to the Mardi Gras tradition, we decorated the cakes with green, purple, and yellow frosting. The residents got to eat on tables scattered with beads, masks, coins, and glittery trinkets. All the while, Reggie, clad in beads and a golden uniform, entertained us at the piano. And to top it off, we used our TV to play a New Orleans jazz concert in the background!! The resdients and staff had a blast.

HAPPY ACTIVITIES WEEK FROM OUR TEAM TO YOURS!!
Our Activity Department went out to Krung Thai restaurant to celebrate Activity Professional Week. It's simple things like enjoying a meal together that help to build a better team. We laughed as we listened to everyone talk about their favorite activities to run for the residents. We ended the outing by posing for a team picture!

CHRISTMAS SURPRISE!!
Right before Christmas, we surprised all the residents with gifts! The evening started with residents listening to a duo play Christmas tunes on the banjo and piano. While residents enjoyed the music in the dining hall, Santa Clause popped in! One by one Santa gave each resident a gift. After we finished distributing gifts in the activity room, we went through facility, visiting each room to give everyone a gift and a visit from Santa! Residents received blankets, shaving kits, cologne, shoes, lotions, etc.

As soon as we finished the gifts from Mission, a group of ladies and some children from a local Mary Kay chapter stopped by to give the residents gifts too! They made an appointment to come in and pass out cookies and goody bags they prepared in their homes. The goody bags included lotions, socks, and Christmas knick-knacks. We went through all the stations, passing out these goodies. Seeing the children walk in and hand out gifts made residents smile. The ladies made enough gifts to go through all the stations!

LUNCHEON AT LOCAL CHURCH...Today our activities department pushed some of our residents next door to attend Church of The Valley's annual Christmas luncheon. Because of our friendship with the church, the church enjoys inviting us to their events every month. The meal started off with a salad. Afterwards, we experienced roast beef, asparagus, baby carrots, baked potatoes, and ended with ice cream and cake. The ladies in the church's kitchen cook well!

David entertained us with Christmas songs with his guitar. In between the songs he told anecdotes about his childhood or the songwriters of the carols. And one of our activities assistant surprised everyone by singing a carol too!

Everyone went home with a Christmas gift bag full of goodies.
