planned to check in on a friday night, was there with my daughter and little boy, check in guy was rude the whole time just making sure my 5 yr. old wasn't touching anything. Well he gave me the rate, I told him that was fine. I would take the room, the hotel seemed fancy and very nice. Until, we got in the elevator. It was old, carpet was dirty my little one already didn't like it. We went in the room. The carpet had stains, it was very dark and was not clean. For the price and as nice as it seemed you would think rooms can be very clean! It was so dark and just dirty that I instantly went back and told the check out guy, we were not staying there. The whole time I was trying to ask him if I needed to sign something saying I was cancelling he was just looking to see what my little one was doing, just telling him to quite down and stay still and not to touch anything, just being rude because obviously I was not going to stay in this nasty place. Not only did I leave right away, they held funds on my card for a whole week! I didn't even stay there! No one even explained this was going to happen and my funds where held for way more than the amount quoted. I called and tried to complain to the other check in guy who's name was Justin and he didn't even seem to care about what my experience was like. If you stay here make sure you don't bring your kids, these people are sooooo rude!!!!! I will never ever go or recommend to anyone. Not so fancy, actually dirty old rooms!

Thank you for taking the time to bring to our attention your experience at our hotel. We strive to offer the best customer service, and thus I am sorry you felt that our front desk agent was rude to you and your 5 year old son. We value our guests feedback. We are also aware that our historic, 1925 boutique style hotel offers smaller than the standard hotel rooms, but we have not heard from our guests that they are very dark, or dirty. Our housekeeping team's goal each and every day is to leave each room in pristine condition for the next guest to enjoy. Your feedback was presented to our housekeeping manager, for whom it's another opportunity to improve the quality of our services. In regards to the credit card hold, as you checked in you were asked to sign an agreement that an authorization will be processed on your credit card for the full amount of your stay plus $50 per night for any incidentals. That is a standard procedure and we inform guests about it right at check in. It is not a charge to the card, just an authorization processed by your bank to make sure that the guest has sufficient funds. Once again thank you for your feedback. We hope you will give us another chance to host you at our hotel. Respectfully, Karolina Lavagnino Director of Sales & Marketing

Ashlands Springs is the best hotel in town for OSF visitors. The theaters are right down the street. You are in walking distance to many great restaurants, and the hotel has old-world elegance with modern convenience. Service is great and the prices are reasonable.

Beautiful, serene, and a wonderful breakfast. SOU put us up here otherwise we would not have been able to afford. Thanks SOU! Too bad we didn't get the job too, at least we got to stay at one of Ashland's bests!

Nobody is going to mistake this for a luxury hotel. All the furnishings are worn and could use a good cleaning. But it's got that warm homey feel, kind of like visiting Aunt Edna's except there's no clear plastic slipcover on the sofa. The staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are a bit cramped but have a great view of the mountains. You're right in downtown Ashland with great shopping and restaurants just outside the door. Work it off by hiking up Ashland Creek to Lithia Park. It's beautiful. I was there in the fall off-season and with the laid-back ambiance it's hard to complain about a little wear and tear.

My husband and I stopped for a night or two on our honeymoon road trip and ended up staying a week and a half! I loved our room, which was small but warm, cozy and inviting! (Our room had just enough room for our queen bed, a bedside table in one corner, a small desk on the other side of the bed, and an entertainment cabinet at the foot of the bed.) The staff was friendly and accommodating, and let us upgrade to a package deal for two of the nights we stayed. Also, I loved the robes provided in the room. I lived in it when we were in the room--which wasn't often because nearly everything is in walking distance.
