Hey y'all -- if you're a hardware developer, want to be a hardware developer, or just like messing around with boards (or Android!) then this contest is for you.

I personally spent the last few months getting this one out the door, so I'd LOVE it if you built a project and gave it a try. Plus, we're giving away a few devboards to help get you going, and the prizes are pretty freaking sweet.

So, what are you waiting for, go on, submit an idea and start building!

#androidthings #hardware #developer
We've partnered with +Hackster.io to bring you an Android Things dev challenge!

Learn more and enter to win → goo.gl/XKBCJh

Final projects must be submitted by Oct 31, 2017. Winners will receive support from Avnet, Dragon Innovation and Kickstarter to take their ideas from prototype to production. We are eager to see the projects that you come up with but more importantly, we're excited to see how your work can inspire other developers to create something great with Android Things!

Hey all,
How many of you are IoT developers (makers, hobbyists, builders, prototypes, etc)?

Have any of you tried Android Things?

Curious for two reasons-- first, because I'm legitimately curious. And second, because I work on it and want to know your thoughts and what projects you're spinning up :)

Today we have released a DP5.1 update for Android Things. DP5.1 fixes up the following issues that were reported to us since the recent DP5 update:
- Certain HDMI monitors would not work
- Remove shadow display artifacts on dialog boxes
- USB mouse cursor did not display correctly

You can read more about DP5.1 from the release notes https://developer.android.com/things/preview/releases.html#developer_preview_51

We want to thank community members like you for reporting issues and filing bugs, your feedback is very important and appreciated by the team ... enjoy the DP5.1 update!

Oh hey strangers, sorry for the crickets -- have been heads down with things over here at #nest -- just under a year ago I moved over to the Works with Nest team here at Nest and have been having a great time, shipping products, (workswith.nest.com), and working with a GREAT group of people. Time goes by fast when you're having fun.

Which is why I'd love it if you joined me! We're hiring!

Dear smart people of the Internet --

Can you help me identify this sound (or series of sounds?)

This video was recorded in the south in an area near a lake/swampy-area. There are alligators in residence.

Are they cicadas? Ducks? Ducks with kazoos?

It's driving me insane.

Thanks!

Just passed my 4 year #Googleversary  last month and was taking a stroll through memory lane.

A lot has changed here at +Google in the four years I've been here-- I've met a ton of great people and have worked on some amazing products and have also witnessed some crazy feats in technology.

But at the core of it all is a great group of people, and kindness-- something that can easily be forgotten when you spend your days staring at the screen and immersed in bits, bytes and blips.

We often have the ability to forget that every action is tied to an actual human-- at some point in time every line of code was someone's thought, every note on a dollar in a conference room was a person's honest intention.

Today, this photo reminded me of how good (and silly) people can be.

Original copy from my dollar post, in 2012:

"Spotted in a +Google conference room:

A $1 bill with a post-it note that reads:

"Found $1 1/17/2012 Please help it find its home"

So many great things about this-- the dollar still sitting there, the dollar having a note, and the fact that I get to work with such an honest community of people.

Thanks."

Pretty impressive photo series showcasing #WomenInTech and the impact that women have made on society.

Code written by hand...

That ain't no small feat! Probably most today's coders couldn't do that...

One of the advantages of WFH when feeling a bit under the weather. Though it makes typing a little tough.
