Companies have to adjust to the significant changes in SEO that happened throughout 2013. It's about much more than keywords and where to put them these days. After a number of conversations on the topic with companies calling us for #SEO   help, I decided to write a post, which includes an embedded article licensed from +TheFinancialPost via +repubHub, the new #contentportal   recently launched by my client iCopyright.com. I predict that embedded articles -- similar to embedded YouTube videos -- will become a new way to expand upon creating original content. Check it out. Get free, rights-cleared content that you can post in its entirety on your site. This eliminates the need for visitors to go off your site to read articles you've linked to.

It's Valentine's Day. A time for appreciation for our close relationships. In this case, for my dear clients.

Here's a lesson from jazz and Super Bowl 2013 about why the best content marketing connects to our humanity, touches us on a personal level.

Today's the day to boost your biz and music IQ -- and Peter Cook's Amazon ratings. Buy his new book The Music of Business. It's now on my Kindle and it's a damn good read!!

Rock is to Peter Cook's music metaphors what jazz is to mine. Heavy metal fans will enjoy both his business wisdom and the music videos he shares in this latest post. Great stuff! His book The Music of Business is coming out on 1-31. It's worth a read so give it some play on Amazon that day!

No matter how much we theorize and explain concepts, seeing them played out right in front of our eyes is the most powerful convincer. Here's what happened in a demo of HubSpot that was far more effective than anything I could have said.

It's easy to mismatch a content offer to the amount information we require a potential lead to provide in order to access it. The key is to understand where in the buying cycle an offer provides value. The farther along the purchase path, the more a buyer will be willing to provide. But we ask too much too soon at our own peril - that is, loss of opportunity. Here's a quick case study in what can go wrong and what it can cost.

We're still relatively new at online/inbound marketing, but companies are putting budget to online activities and not realizing the bottom line benefits. It takes a different knowledge set today, but we're still pegging our hopes on tacticians who don't see the big picture. Studies are beginning to point this out.

Awhile back I introduced my friends/business colleagues/authors Bryan Mattimore and +Peter Cook to one another. Great to see them collaborating in a post on Peter's blog today. These guys know what innovation's all about and how to foster it within organizations. Enjoy an informative and entertaining read which will also lead you to info about their books.

Especially if you're a music lover, it's a great way to get your business wisdom. Peter's an experienced and insightful management consultant who knows how to make his subject matter accessible and FUN!!

Jazz inspires me in many ways. It also informs my marketing approach. Here's an example of how a jazz set I heard last night set the wheels in motion for a post on marketing collaboration.
