HTTP is not RPC [mca blog] #HTTP #REST #SOA <- a follow up to some twitter-convos.

"i had an interesting set of twitter convos in the last 24 hours centered around HTTP, RPC, and REST. i sespecially enjoyed my interactions w/@wmartinez, @dilipkrish and @AndrewWahbe."

_"
essentially, the convo gravitated toward the comparision of Fielding's REST to common RPC when implementing solutions over HTTP. along the way, (after a couple mis-steps called out by @dilipkrish) i said that i find it very interesting that RPC over HTTP is so popular/common when the two are so 'dissonant' to each other."_

“Everyone watching these horrific actions will be struck by how they were organized via social media,” Cameron said in an emergency session of Parliament on Thursday, during which he announced that officials were working with the intelligence services and police to look at how and whether to “stop people communicating via these Web sites and services when we know they are plotting violence, disorder and criminality.”

i wonder if social media has been used to help co-ordinate the clean up efforts, protect shops, inform friends and relatives whether it is safe to move about.

anyone have pointers to stories like that?

RESTFest 2011 is just one week away...

"ExtendedTalks on tap for Saturday (Aug-20) AM from Subbu Allamaraju of eBay (Measuring REST), Randall Tombaugh of Microsoft (Web API: Bringing HTTP front and center in WCF), and Kev Burns, Jr (A Resource Oriented Hypermedia Framework). and, this year's Friday night (Aug-19) keynote (RESTLess: Why you should stop using REST) will be delivered by Jon Moore of Comcast. it should be a very interesting presentation and discussion afterwards!"
lots for me to do in order to be ready; really looking forward to seeing old friends an new faces, too.
