From the weekend .... Feb 28 / March 1, 2015.  End of Summer into the first days of our supposed Autumn, although it will feel summery for quite some time to come.

Friday Flower and Foliage Flaunt ... on this late Summer Friday.
It's been a hot and humid week.  Temps have stayed pretty much around the 33 - 34 deg C mark all week, although thankfully the night time temps are a much more comfortable 24-25 deg C.  We've had a few showers of rain again during the week, but we still hav...

So as our mid-Summer month, January, draws to a close, I thought I'd share what's been going on in my garden here in the dry tropics of north Queensland.

Great post by a fellow Aussie.

Part of the point of planting indigenous plants in the garden is to attract native birds. I used to think it was good to attract as many different species of birds as possible. Over the years I have observed quite a variety o...

+sue catmint   We are bemoaning the lack of a wet season here.  Everything is starting to dry out very, very quickly and our dry season has only just begun.  The garden is going to have a tough year.

Friday Flower Flaunt ... on this first February Friday.
February is supposedly our last month of Summer, although there's little change even when March rolls around.  At the moment it's hot and humid.  We've had some lovely rain during the month of January and even in this first week of February, but it's been i...

I'm sharing the blog of this fabulous woman who's living using the principles of permaculture over in Ireland.  Her posts make terrific reading.

Morning light floods the kitchen. The sky opens early revealing a mist over the valley. It's been very dry here in the west of Ireland, so morning mist adds a little dew to the plants and is very w...

Known as Bush Bernie in garden blogging circles. I'm a teacher, wife, mother, and grandmother whose interest in gardening has been rekindled after many busy years filled with work and family. My garden is located in a dry tropics region of north Queensland and the climate and weather conditions here can be quite challenging! But I'm whole-heartedly enjoying getting out there and having a go!
