This is room where everyone hangs out — a family dog regularly looking for squirrels through the 18 windows, Tom and Patti Jenkins reading or watching TV, guests relaxing surrounded by the lush landscape.

Good helpful plumbing tips and information to share with you. http://Porch-Life.com

Helpful Home tips:
The month of June this year reminded me a lot of the Summer of 2007 when we had that drought and the water in the lakes was down 10 to 18 feet. It did not rein for 3 months. Here is few tips to help you safe some water and energy, which I think should be priority for each of us these days.

If you use a low-flow shower head, you can save 15 gallons of water during a 10-minute shower.
Every time you shave minutes off your use of hot water, you also save energy and keep dollars in your pocket.
It takes about 70 gallons of water to fill a bathtub, so showers are generally the more water-efficient way to bathe.
All of those flushes can add up to nearly 20 gallons a day down the toilet. If you still have a standard toilet, which uses close to 3.5 gallons a flush, you can save by retrofitting or filling your tank with something that will displace some of that water, such as a brick.
Most front-loading machines are energy- and water-efficient, using just over 20 gallons a load, while most top-loading machines, unless they are energy-efficient, use 40 gallons per load. Nearly 22% of indoor home water use comes from doing laundry. Save water by making sure to adjust the settings on your machine to the proper load size. Dish washing is a relatively small part of your water footprint—less than 2% of indoor use—but there are always ways to conserve. Using a machine is actually more water efficient than hand washing, especially if you run full loads. Energy Star dishwashers use about 4 gallons of water per load, and even standard machines use only about 6 gallons. Hand washing generally uses about 20 gallons of water each time.

We contacted Porch-Life and other competitors in late September of 2014 to replace our 8x8 concrete slab with a 14'X16' screened in porch. We chose Brian and Porch-Life because of the feeling we got when we first interacted with them. Unlike the competitors we spoke to, Brian went out of his way to make us feel like we were his number one priority and took the time to address any concerns we had, without making us feel like we were holding him up from a more important job. After choosing Porch-Life to complete our porch, Brian informed us that the earliest he could begin the work was January 2015 due to other projects. Less than a week later, after one of his projects was canceled, Brian moved the date up to November with the hopes of completing the project by Christmas. While Porch-Life was unable to completely finish the project by Christmas (because of a truck delivery delay) , they came pretty close, completing everything but the screens and weatherlite windows, enabling us to enjoy the covered porch during the holidays. Throughout the duration of the project, Brian or Mike stayed in constant communication with us, informing us of the progress and letting us know when they would be arriving. The end result was exactly what my husband and I wanted, a large outdoor area that we could utilize year round. While their prices may seem slightly higher than some of their competitors, their craftsmanship, communication skills and genuine care for your property is worth the extra cost. We absolutely love our porch and will recommend porch-life to all of our friends and will use them again for any future project. They are a pleasure to work with!

Beautiful porch. Much more than I expected. We didn't anticipate much but the completed project is a beautiful new addition to our home. Brian was very helpful and professional. The crew was fast and efficient, and very polite. I highly recommend for your porch project.

In mid-November, I chose to contract Brian Vick and Porch-Life to build a roof over our deck. I not only got good carpenters, I got a first rate professional craftsman and crew from start to finish! I was not exactly sure what I wanted or needed, but after looking at our existing deck, house and talking to me, Brian knew exactly what he was going to do! He assured me that since Porch-Life has built MANY porches, what I was requesting was NO PROBLEM! He even included features I had not even considered but am so glad he did! Brian assured me that the porch would not look like an “add on,” but that it would match our original home construction. He assured me that we’d have our porch by Christmas! Not only was he absolutely correct, the entire experience was a real pleasure! He took care of everything! The crew started work when they said they would! They showed up every day they were scheduled! They worked quickly! Everyone was respectful of me and of our property … no standing around smoking cigarettes, leaving butts all over the yard! The attention to detail was unbelievable! The quality of materials was outstanding (MUCH better than the original deck construction!) You’ll pay Porch-Life slightly more than you’d pay “Joe in the pickup truck,” but not nearly as much as you’d pay the competition in Charlotte and the quality of work is far superior! If you are looking for a builder to construct or improve your deck or porch, look no further! Call Brian at Porch-Life! You’ll be SO glad you did! Now, I can’t wait for spring weather to enjoy our porch! Karen Guignard Harrisburg, NC

I selected Porch-Life to build a 200 square foot porch with WeatherLite windows on the first floor and a 225 square foot deck off the second floor of my Ballantyne Country Club home. Porch-Life was selected from a list of 6 local porch and deck builders because they provided the most creative design at a competitive price. Porch-Life started and completed construction on time, for the quoted price. I wanted to use the porch and deck for a while before writing a letter of recommendation to see if any quality issues would surface. During the past 2 ½ months my family and I have enjoyed using the porch and deck without any quality concerns. Brian Vick and Mike Schulz along with the other Porch-Life contractors are professional, easy to contact and quality craftsmen who constructed a sturdy and attractive porch and deck. Based on my experience I recommend Porch-Life to anyone desiring to build a porch or deck. Denis Tontodonato 7-15-14
