It’s time! The 2015 Poteau Balloon Fest STARTS TOMORROW! October 16 & 17! The gates will open at noon on Friday and 9am on Saturday.

New this year will be a burnout competition, atv/utv race, and a pumpkin mud run on Friday night in the mud pit area. We will also have Cirque Adventures a family acrobatic act and the Lawbreakers & Peacemakers will be setting up a western town and performing several skits.

Returning will be the Rumble on the River Mud Run (Saturday), Derek Cook FMX, Magician Jonathan Magic, Little Miss & Mr. Balloon Fest Pageant, Pet Contests and the Saturday Night LJ Jenkins Bull Riding Event.

ADMISSION
The chamber office will be selling gate admission armbands for $3 in advance up until Noon on Friday, October 16. Debit & Credit Cards require a minimum purchase of 4 armbands or $12.00.

Admission at the Gates is $5 per person, Children 4 and under are free.
Gate admission does not include any carnival rides or other ride attractions or the Saturday Night LJ Jenkins Bull Riding Event.

BULL RIDING
Tickets for the Saturday night bull riding event are $10 per person. (Ages 2 & under Free). If you come before 6pm on Saturday, you will be required to purchase the gate admission for $5 each.

BALLOONS
Balloon events are wind and weather permitting and cannot be guaranteed during any specific time. Friday morning flights are scheduled to take off from different areas around town and hopefully land at the festival. Saturday they are scheduled to take off from the grounds and land at different areas. Tethered rides are scheduled for Friday from approximately 3 – 6 and Saturday 9 – 11 and 3 – 6. Tethered rides are $10 per person and are non-refundable.

PARKING
FREE parking is available at CASC and the Industrial Park. There will also be free shuttle buses to and from the free parking lots. Paid parking on the main grounds is $5 per vehicle, per entry. There will be no left hand turns into the grounds. It is asked that you go to the Industrial Park from the Old Highway and then come out on 271 to make a right had turn into the grounds.

CARNIVAL
The carnival will be opening Thursday Night from 6pm – 10pm with a $15 armband (no gate admission required). Friday rides open at noon with a $20 armband from 7pm – 11pm. Saturday will be ride tickets only.

VOLUNTEERS
Volunteer shirts and packets should be ready for pickup starting Wednesday afternoon. All volunteers are asked to check in and out at the chamber booth located near the main gate. Parking and gate attendant volunteers will be taken to the area needed most. We still need help with parking, if interested, please contact Shannon.

Can You CONQUER the World's Highest Hill?
The Cavanal Killer 5 Mile Walk/Run is this Saturday in our Gateway City of Poteau Oklahoma!

Registration Time: 8:00am; Event Begins 9:00am

Registration & Parking Point: Poteau Primary, 407 Hughes Drive

The goal of the Cavanal Killer 8k Walk/Run is to promote fitness and Cavanal Hill. This is not a race, although it is chip timed.

Pre-Event Spaghetti Dinner: Your Entry Fee includes one (1) spaghetti dinner that will be held at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center, Friday, May 8, 2015 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. At this dinner, you can pick up your registration packets. You may order additional tickets to the dinner.

Event Tips: Wear comfortable walking shoes & clothing; Water will be provided at stations on the way, but participants are encouraged to bring their own. A light lunch will be provided at the top. Transportation will be provided back down the hill. Runners are asked to start at beginning of line, walkers behind runners, anyone pushing a stroller or slower walkers please line up toward the back.

Step Back in Time // 9am - 10:30am
History surrounds us, we just need to take a walk to step back in time and see some of the work of early settlers. Join the park interpreter at the Ouachita trailhead.

Sunset at the Fire Tower // 7:45pm - 8:15pm
How does having a bird’s eye view of a spectacular panoramic sunset sound to you? Join the park interpreter at the fire tower (two miles east of the lodge on Hwy 88). Be advised, this requires climbing a series of stairs to access the platform at the top of the tower. Don’t forget to bring your camera. You’ll want to capture the memories!
